REVIEW: Unbuttoning the Bachelor Doc by Deanne Anders

Unbuttoning the Bachelor Doc by Deanne Anders is the first book in the Nashville Midwives series. Dr. Jared and midwife Skylar have clashed since he joined his father’s medical practice. He’s standoffish, while she’s bubbly, outgoing, and does everything she can to crack Jared’s tough exterior. So when his father suggests Jared and Sky pair up to be the medical team for a pregnant country music star that has a reality tv show, Jared has his hesitations about working with her. Will this be the push they need to move past the constant tension between them?

Both characters have tragic pasts, but they each chose to handle them differently. Jared closed himself off, while Sky chose to be upbeat and positive. They teach each other that there’s no right or wrong way to deal with what they have endured and come to a mutual place of respect and understanding.

The reality show aspect of the story was a fun and interesting addition to the story. The author does a good job of having time for Jared and Sky both on and off the show to showcase both their professional and their personal sides.

Being the first book in the series, readers are also introduced to some of the other midwives and doctors at the practice. They appear to be a close-knit group, and it’ll be interesting to see what happens for all of them.

Unbuttoning the Bachelor Doc is a well written story with realistic and relatable characters. I would recommend it to readers who enjoy opposites attract stories, workplace romances, or medical romances.
