In Seconds to Sunrise (Black Ops: Automatik #3) by Nico Rosso, April Banks hasn’t had the easiest of times since losing her husband to the dangers of military life. But she’s been doing better, ever since she started an online forum to help other war widows come together to aid each other in dealing with their loss. Now though, someone is targeting her site and if she doesn’t find the people responsible, then all her hard work will be for nothing. Luckily, she has Automatik agent, James Sant, to assist in finding the bad guys, otherwise she could find herself in danger that she can’t get herself out of.

She crossed her arms over her chest. “Not possible.”
An exasperated laugh burst from him. “I knew you were going to say that.”
“Your cyber team wouldn’t wait that long, and neither can I.” She uncrossed her arms and gestured her fingers. ”Do you know how many automated tasks can be assigned in a computer? Every second I don’t have my hands on that server could mean a breach and a failure.”

What can I say other than I love this series, not only because I’m a huge fan of romantic suspense novels, but because the men of the Automatik team are all HOT. Right from the first chapter, this book opens quite intensely with what happens to the heroine and it just keeps getting better and better from there due to the plot twists and the well-written dialogue. However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine met that made this story captivating. Can April trust James? Can he help her find the people responsible for turning her life upside down?

It was his turn to catch up to her. “For a civilian, you wear a good mask.”
She smiled at him brightly. “This is my going-out-in-public face. I learned to keep people from asking me, ‘Are you doing alright?’”
“It’s f****** brilliant.”
“Thank you,” she chirped.
He lowered his voice to a private tone. “Your secret is safe with me.”

Both characters were compelling. There was so much to like about James, despite his back story that he believes makes him not good for April. He’s been through a lot, and has to face some tough decisions about an old friend from the past and how it’ll affect protecting April. Who does he owe the most loyalty to? While April, she’s strong, brave and I liked how tenacious she is to help those that have suffered a loss like hers. She hasn’t had the easiest of times since the death of her husband, but she’s found her passion to overcome it and when the marvelous work she’s done is threatened, no way is she going to back down from finding those responsible. Even if it means having to work alongside James to get her work back up and running as well as having a dangerous threat hanging over her life that she won’t run away from.

Overall, this was another great addition to Nico Rosso’s Black Ops: Automatik series where the strong romance reveals just how right these two are for each other, because they help each other heal from the hurts of their pasts. The way this story ended was intense with the danger April and James face, and provided edge-of-your-seat suspense that was so entertaining that I just had to keep reading to discover how things would turn out for this couple. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up perfectly, because of the decision April made. Certainly, she fits in well with James’s friends. I would recommend Seconds to Sunrise by Nico Rosso, if you enjoy romantic suspense, a book where the hero finds redemption or a heroine gets a second chance at love.

She thought she’d lost everything…

April Banks thought her website crashing was just a glitch. Starting the online forum for war widows has been the only thing keeping her together since her husband died, and she won’t let anything interfere with her work. But this is no technical malfunction—cyberterrorists have targeted the information locked in April’s website and they’ll do anything to get it. Even if that means removing April. Permanently.

He’ll make them pay…

Automatik gave former SAS agent James Sant a way to protect the innocent again. He thinks life in the shadows is all he deserves…until he meets his newest assignment. April is everything James has never let himself want and he knows she’s already had too much heartbreak in her life to risk feeling for him. But keeping things professional while hunting the hackers with the gorgeous widow is going to be the hardest job he’s ever taken on.

The first book of this series is still the best so far, but what I love so much about this series is the action and suspense. Hope you enjoy this book as much as I did, Teresa. Happy reading!
