REVIEW: Softhearted by Kim Law

Softhearted (Deep in the Heart #2) by Kim Law is a sweet and tender story about looking past your own inner struggles and being open to love. It is about not listening to gossip, but following your heart. This is the story of Heather and Waylon.

To say that Heather Lindsay is the queen of bad choices is the understatement of the year. She is a bad boy magnet. The badder that better. But she is trying to change her wicked ways and avoid temptation, especially in the form of her best friends new ranch manager, and the guy with a bad reputation, Waylon Peterson.

Waylon has made his share of bad choices in the past, and it has cost him that one thing that means the most to him, his daughter. He has changed his ways. Now all he wants is to be left in peace, to put down roots and get his daughter back. But when he meet Heather, he wants in the worst way to show her that all of the bad boy talk around down is just gossip. He is not that guy any more.

Waylon and Heather are the perfect pair. They both have issues, they both are afraid to trust, but it is Waylon who opens his heart and spills his fears and hopes to Heather. At times I did not like Heather. I did not like the way that she treated Waylon. I mean, I get that she had issues because she did not think she could trust her own judgement, but I felt at times like she was just plain mean. Waylon was an amazing character who was sweet, kind and easily endearing. He was not afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve, and at times, it got a bit battered. In the end, these two find a way, and the HEA is sweet.

If you want a story that will pull at your heart, leave you a little weepy and give you a HEA to remember, than this is the book for you.

Heather Lindsay loves falling in love—even though her blueprint for romance has failed her time and time (and time) again. But now that she’s signed on to design an outdoor-wedding venue for her friend’s home renovation show, Heather’s found a new focus: her career. Only it’s not long before she’s being distracted—by the hunkiest man who ever swaggered down the streets of Red Oak Falls.

The show’s new ranch manager, Waylon Peterson, a.k.a. Prince Harry in a cowboy hat, has every woman swooning. He’s also got a bad-boy rep that’s made him the hottest mess in town. In other words, he’s catnip for Heather, the Texan queen of bad choices. That’s why she’s steering clear—even with Waylon’s charm going full throttle.

Waylon is determined to trade one night stands for true love, but convincing Heather may be an impossible task. He’s ready to settle down, but can she get past her fear of settling and give love one more shot?
