Sound of Fear by Marta Perry Marta Perry is such a talented writer, and I can never put her books down until I have read the very last page. Sound of Fear was no exception! The character of Amanda is so well developed and so realistic, it is easy to identify with Amanda’s confusion and deep sense of loss as she mourns her mother who is senselessly killed, and the loss is even deeper after realizing her mother never told her she was adopted.

Amanda uses clues from a painting her mother created, to take her to Echo Falls, Pennsylvania in search of answers about her heritage. Her mother’s attorney connects Amanda with Trey, an attorney in Echo Falls. Once Trey realizes that Amanda likely is related to the town’s most prominent family, he feels a potential conflict of interest- his father was once their attorney.

While in town, Amanda stays with a local Amish family, with whom she feels a strong connection that she fights, determined to stay independent. There are many in town who do not wish Amanda to discover her true heritage. Will she be able to and stay safe and uharmed? What will happen with the growing connection between Amanda and Trey? I invite fellow readers to pick up and read Sound of Fear. It is a great story!
