REVIEW: Sweet Resolve by Jill Sanders

In Sweet Resolve by Jill Sanders, Amy Walker wants to be promoted to partner in the real Sweet-Resolveestate agency she’s working for. Then Logan Miller joins the company. Not only does it turn out he’s the nephew of the owner of the company, but he’s also the person that made Amy’s life a nightmare when she was younger. Logan had bullied and tormented Amy and now he was back gunning for the position she desperately wanted.

Amy and her best friend, Kristen (who’s featured in book one of the series, Unlucky in Love) come up with a revenge to match most of the things that Logan had done to her. For example, he had locked her in a broom closet, so she had him enter a stairwell where the doors were broken so he was stuck in there. Realizing what she’s doing, Logan takes it all in good stride. He never gets mad at her antics. In fact, he feels guilty for how he treated the girl he used to have a crush on and is therefore willing to put up them.

While I felt bad for Logan because of the childhood he had, it didn’t seem like enough to excuse how he had treated Amy when she was younger. While he repeatedly stated he had been a wild child, it seemed like the only way he had been bad was the way he treated her.

I thought the book ended a little abruptly. I flipped the page expecting to see more, only to find there wasn’t. It was sweet, but it felt like it need a bit more.

Even though this is the second book in the series, it can be read as a standalone. Kristen and Aiden from Unlucky in Love do make a couple of appearances in this book, but it’s not necessary to have read it first.

If you enjoy stories about unrequited childhood crushes turning into adulthood romances, then you may enjoy this book.

Amy Walker is steps away from her perfect job. The day she makes partner at her real estate firm will be the happiest of her life, second only to the day in junior high when her tormentor, Logan Miller, finally moved away. But fate has a warped sense of humor, because Logan is back. In her town, in her office, gunning for the same promotion. Worse, the man is sinfully hot. But that won’t keep Amy from exacting the revenge he richly deserves…

Logan had reasons for acting wild in his youth, but he still regrets the way he treated Amy. Especially once he’s sharing an office with the smart, self-controlled beauty. For one thing, she’s got a wicked sense of payback. For another, he’s realized there’s something he wants much more than a promotion. And that’s to melt the ice he helped form around her heart all those years ago and to prove that loving thine enemy can be the ultimate happy ending.
