Tangle by Adriana Locke: Hayley is sweet, sassy, and a true romantic. She wants to find love and a committed relationship, but she always ends up with the wrong guy and turning herself inside out to be what he needs. She loves food and flowers and she has an infectious personality. Hayley is at a bit of a crossroads career-wise since she’s no longer needed as a nanny for her niece.

Trevor is a sexy nerd who loves his numbers. He loves being the CFO and working alongside his brother of the family company. He’s funny, charming, and a total commitment phobe. He’s cynical about love and has no need to settle down when he could have his pick of women.

Hayley makes quite the first impression and definitely grabs Trevor’s attention. They strike sparks and banter from their very first interaction. They don’t fit at all on paper since they are pretty much total opposites, but they can’t help being drawn to each other. Knowing that Trevor is only in town temporarily, they agree to a contract and ground rules.

I glare at him. “Want to know what’s surprising? I’ve managed to act like a lady and haven’t taken that doughnut right off your plate. That’s surprising.”
He chuckles.
“This isn’t funny.”

They actually become good friends, which allows them to get to know other. The chemistry is always there and distracting as Hayley is trying to be smart and stick to her no dating bet. Trevor doesn’t want to be tempted, but Hayley sneaks past his defenses and checks all the boxes he didn’t even know were there. They give as good as they get, but they find themselves wrapped up in each other as they break their own rules.

“I know planning ahead is against the rules, but you’ll have to cut me some slack on this one.”
“Great,” I say, giving in to the happiness I feel.
“It was that easy?”
“Who am I to tell you not to celebrate me? That’s ridiculous.”

Tangle fun, sweet, sexy, and a great beach read. Adriana Locke does a great job in developing the characters and relationship while building the anticipation and providing surprises. Ms. Locke developed an entertaining cast of characters that would be fun to revisit in this series. Tangle can be read as a standalone in the Dogwood Lane series. Fans of Emma Hart and Meghan Quinn will enjoy Tangle.

Sparks fly between a die-hard romantic and a sexy cynic in this fresh, funny romance from USA Today bestselling author Adriana Locke.

That cream-filled, caramel-topped doughnut should have been hers. Still, Haley Raynor can’t deny that the pastry thief with the dreamy blue eyes looks even more delicious. But moving in on a handsome devil like Trevor Kelly is bad news for a die-hard romantic like Haley. Trevor doesn’t believe in love. She does. Giving in to a fling and Trevor’s irresistible charms can’t end well. Can it? What can it hurt to give it a shot?

Girls always fall for Trevor, and in the end, he always ends up looking like a bad-boy cad. Still, spending some time with Haley and her smart-talking, kissable mouth sounds pretty perfect. Besides, he’s only going to be in Dogwood Lane for one week. How much trouble could they possibly get into?

The only answer? A “no falling in love” contract. All Trevor and Haley have to do is follow the rules and resist the attraction sizzling between them…before their hearts get completely tangled up in temptation.
