The Accidental Countess by Emma Hart: The last thing Eva could have ever imagined was that she would end up married and to an Earl no less, but with her family hotel The Fox and Hound in dire need of a cash injection Eva doesn’t even think twice in agreeing to Matthews wacky marriage of convenience proposal. After all who better to shack up with then the hottie Earl that she has been hooking up with on the sly for the past few months who is just as apposed to marriage as she is, right?
With such a big title comes some major expectations and one of them being the need to produce an heir, the only problem being Matthew has absolutely no desire to marry. With mounting pressure from his mother and nan to settle down and produce an heir to the Earldom, Matthew comes up with the crazy idea to propose to Eva, after all they have been friends for some time now and they do have some crazy hot chemistry. However somewhere between their crazy wedding, moving to Menai Castle and long forest walks with the three dogs something begins to change between the Earl and the Countess, can what started off as just an arrangement become a true happily ever after?
“She felt like sunshine in my arms. And I didn’t want to let her go.”
Pure swoony, dreamy, happy perfection that is what you will get from an Emma Hart book and this is most definitely the case with The Accidental Countess. I loved this book big time, I think it is safe to say that Eva and Matthew were my favourite couple from The Aristocrat Diaries series. Firstly I’m a sucker for any Emma Hart book and then to throw in the fact that this is a fake turned real marriage and I was completely sold, never mind the extra goodness that comes with Mat’s crazy Nan.
“You? Get nervous?”
“What? I can’t be this strong, confident superhero all the time, you know. Even Batgirl needs a breather once in a while.”
Both Eva and Matthew were such cute characters to follow, I loved getting to see these two marriage phobes slowly fall in love with each other and the life that they had created. Eva was such a fire cracker of a leading lady, I loved her say it as it is attitude and the way she slowly made Menai Castle her home. Eva and the toast saga was just comic gold!!
As for our charming Earl Matthew, I just loved the way he handled all things crazy Eva, these two just had some steamy hot chemistry. I really liked that he was the first one to fall and that he really wanted to help make Eva feel at home. I just loved getting to see these two as they teamed up first with the hotel opening and then with getting the new property.
I loved the secondary characters in this big time. The three dogs were just the cutest, I loved the extra bit of zing that they brought and that they so naturally gravitated towards Eva. It was also really nice getting to see Addy, Alex and Olympia again. But it is easy to say the really star attraction has to go to Nan! I just loved this old gal, she was such a wacky little old lady. It was just hilarious seeing her convince Eva that she is in fact expecting.
The Accidental Countess was one of the best fake turned real romcoms that I have read in a long time. This fast paced, laugh out laugh romcom is definitely not one to be missed!

An earl and an artist walk into a bar, and the barman says—never mind. They’re in a church, and they’re married now. Oops.
My name is Evangeline Astley, and the only thing you need to know about me is that I never imagined this was how my life would go.
I was supposed to devote all my time to painting gorgeous things to eventually open my own art gallery. Instead, I spent it all trying to sell my art to save my parents’ hotel.
Cue the Earl of Anglesey and his not-so-stunning idea.
Matthew Bennett needs an heir to the earldom, but for an heir, he needs a wife. And I’m the one the extremely eligible bachelor has chosen. Except I’m just as marriage-phobic as he is, so naturally, I refused—until he gives me an offer that I couldn’t.
If I agreed to marry him, provide an heir, and divorce amicably in due course, he would save The Fox and Hound hotel that I love so much.
That, ladies and gents, is how I became the Countess of Anglesey.
The one thing I didn’t count on, however?
Falling in love with my husband.
