In The Billionaire’s Defiant Acquisition by Sharon Kendrick, Conall Devlin is a ruthless man ready to achieve ultimate success. So, to acquire the missing piece to his property portfolio, he’s willing to accept an unusual term of the contract…taming his client’s wayward daughter!
Party girl Amber Carter appears to live a life of luxurious frivolity, but deep down she feels lost and alone in her material world. Until one morning her new landlord turns up, every inch of him pinstriped-clad perfection, offering her an ultimatum: either Amber is thrown out onto the streets or she accepts her first ever job—being at his beck and call day and night…
This was a well written romance which was well paced with a well constructed romance. There was a good amount of tension and a good build up to the romance. The characters had a good chemistry which made their romance much more believable. Amber is a socialite who does not have much ambition in her life. Due to her upbringing and parents, she leads a very lonely life. I could not relate to her one bit mainly because she had no drive in her life. She was an escalated version of damsel in distress and though she did try to solve her many problems but it was never enough according to my opinion. In contrast, Conell was an alpha, hardworking and ruthless hero who would have earned my respect if he was not an escalated version of a jerk. It was frustrating the way he behaved with the heroine at times. Overall, a good romance which could have been more enjoyable for me if the characters were much more likable.
