The Bodyguard Situation by Lyra Parish: Harper’s used to fighting her own battles. So to say she is a bit annoyed about getting swept away into some kind of crazy protection camp by none other than ex-Marine and full-time pain in her butt Brody, would be a total understatement. However if there is one thing that Brody will not compromise on, it is keeping Harper safe! And if keeping her safe means that he has to lock her in a secluded cabin and face her icy stares daily then so be it. With a dangerous threat looming and no where to go but stay put in their isolated haven, the two of them find themselves facing something neither of them expected to have to deal with… their growing feelings for each other. Some where between the annoyed glares and the kind gestures their electrifying chemistry seems to have reignited a flame neither had planned for. But with danger right at their door Brody needs to focus on keeping them safe while trying to win over Harpers heart.

After reading the previous book in this series, I just knew that I needed to get my hands on Brody’s book and let me just tell you our grumpy hero did not disappoint one bit! I just loved the whole forced proximity vibe that this book gave and all the delicious slow build up tension that came with these two main character! The Bodyguard Situation was just the kind of slow burn, action filled, steamy forced proximity romcom with all the playfulness that comes with a grump meets sunshine book that I have been craving. While you can definitely read this as a standalone, trust me you will want to read the entire series, these Calloways have a way of worming their way into your heart!

I just adored Harper, she was definitely no damsel in distress. Our girl was ready to fight for her own safely just as hard as Brody. I loved how she has a sharp wit, speaks her mind and challenges Brody at just about every turn. I really liked the fact that we get to see her journey from this fiercely independent woman that does not want to have to rely on anyone to finally realising that allowing Brody to help her and leaning on him doesn’t make her weak. Now lets talk about our slightly grumpy hero, gosh I really loved Brody and his take no prisoners attitude. We really get to see him go full protector mode, but this really is just his way of showing love. Brody is man of action, not words, which often comes across as gruff or intimidating but this was so far from what he really was, once we got to know the Brody behind the grump we really got to see a softy that loves hard.

I just ate up all that slow burn tension and the forced proximity that came from being in the cabin together. Harper and Brody had easily one of the best build ups as far as banter and spark go. Their constant bickering and Harper always challenging Brody only amped up the tension. I think the fact that Brody had been harbouring some long term teenage feelings for Harper only added fuel to their already sizzling chemistry, but also highlighted just how special she was to him and that protecting her was so much more than a job for him.

All in all I really loved reading The Bodyguard Situation, this book is filled with banter, steamy and the delicious slow burn angst that comes with a forced proximity romcom. If you like a bit of drama with your romance then this is definitely a book for you!

Being a bodyguard for my billionaire cousins comes with many perks. One of my favorites is rescuing gorgeous, sassy-mouthed damsels in distress…

There are a few problems with that: Harper Alexander isn’t a damsel or distressed. Oh, and I can’t forget to mention that she doesn’t want to be rescued.

Too bad she doesn’t have a choice.

Right now, I don’t give a flying you-know-what that she escaped the city with her brand-new fiancé and plans to marry him next week…I will find her. I may have to throw her over my shoulder, kicking and screaming, but she’s coming with me. She has no idea how much danger she’s in.

Unfortunately for her, I’m the only one who can save her. But I have a feeling, she might be the one who saves me.
