In The Guy To Be Seen With by Fiona Harper, Chloe Michaels is an orchid specialist just hired on at the famous Kew Gardens in London. She has revamped her image over the last few years to show the world a more polished version of herself. And now that she finally has her dream job, she feels like she can face the person from her past who set that change into motion: her ex-professor Daniel Bradford. His rejection of her as a nerdy college student pushed her to make some huge changes after TGTBSWher self-esteem was damaged. Chloe knows Daniel is also working at the gardens as head of tropical plants and wants to make a good impression…and also see if he remembers her from that night outside the pub. But from the moment she runs into him, it’s obvious Daniel doesn’t remember her as his student and he is very much interested in pursuing her. She finds herself yet again falling for the handsome guy and tries her best to shield her heart from getting hurt. He’s made it obvious he isn’t the type to settle down. She knows she will eventually want to have a lasting relationship. Can they somehow compromise?

“It didn’t matter just how much saliva had pooled in the bottom of Daniel Bradford’s mouth when he’d looked at her, because she was never, ever going down that road again.”

Daniel Bradford just had an extremely public break up after saying no to his then girlfriend’s marriage proposal on air. Somehow this has made him the most eligible bachelor in London, much to his chagrin. He has traveled the world cataloging rare plants but now finds himself stuck in London chomping at the bit to get back into the field. After helping out his beloved sister and his nephews during her illness, he’s planning on leaving in the next year to get out of the spotlight. However plans may change after meeting the cool and sophisticated bombshell that is Chloe Michaels. He loves a challenge and especially a good chase when it comes to women…and Chloe is a master at the game. When she comes to his rescue during an event at the gardens, he decides to take her up on her idea of how to take the public attention away from himself. Daniel is intrigued by Chloe’s aloofness and decides to step it up a notch to see if he can get her attention. But when he finally does, he’s not sure if he’s ready for the emotions that follow. Both his own and Chloe’s.

“She was the only thing in focus as he made his way towards her, the soft smile on her lips, the way her eyes took on extra sparkle when she looked at him… It was making his blood simmer.”

Fiona Harper has a wonderful writing style. The scenes flow perfectly which made this a joy to read, and very quick to read as well! Kew Gardens is a great setting for a romance to take place and is a beautiful backdrop to Chloe and Daniel’s story. I loved the transformation the characters went through: physically for Chloe and emotionally for both of them. This is a funny, tender love story I would definitely recommend.
