But with so much pressure on matchmaking all her clients, Rilka can’t handle it anymore and decides that she will not take any new clients and gives herself three months to match her currents clients and then go on a sabbatical.
Jeremy has not had a reason to smile or feel anything good since he returned home, but somehow Rilka brings a smile or a grin as it may be to his face when he thinks about her now he has to convince her breaking her rules and dating a client is not a bad idea.
Jeremy and Rilka hit is off from the beginning, but she will not date a client and so she will try to match him to other women and send him to bars to socialize with others but he will not make things easy for her and while she is not looking he soon gets close to as her friend until he can get under her skin.
With her clients not making a match from what she expects and then making their own matches with complete opposites, Rilka will have some lessons to learn about how love really works and Jeremy will be there to help her along the way.

Rilka Árpád inherited her name and her job from her grandmother. She doesn’t mind her name; it’s her job she can’t stand. Working as a matchmaker has exposed her to all the downsides of human behavior – in her opinion, it’s a wonder anyone can stand each other long enough to get through a date, let alone cherish each other forever.
She makes herself a promise: if she can just get through her current client list in the next three months, she’ll go on sabbatical. And maybe never come back.
Her new client, war veteran Jeremy Ford, ends up being everything Rilka has come to expect (and dislike) about her work when he announces that he just wants to get laid. At least he’s honest.
Or so she thinks. It turns out that Jeremy wants a lot more than a one-night stand, and he wants it from Rilka. But the only way they can get to forever is if Rilka learns to trust her heart.

I love, love, loved this book. And, unlike many in the “returned vet” trope, Jeremy is wounded on the outside. Significantly. The interplay between Rilka and Jeremy is fraught with humor and realism as their relationship moves from professional (quasi) to friendship to love. Fantastic!
