The Princess’s New Year Wedding (The Princess Brides Book 1) by Rebecca Winters: This story begins with a tragedy. Prince Alberto of the Kingdom of Umbriano, heir to the throne, has died in an automobile accident. He had been engaged to Princess Lanza of the Kingdom of Domodossola, a marriage sought by both sets of parents as they were the best of friends.

Now King Basilio and Queen Diania of Umbriano have asked their eldest son Stefano, who had given up his rights to the throne to pursue a life free from royal duties, to again take up the mantle of royal heir and also to marry Princess Lanza. At first Lanza and Stefano want to refuse to become engaged but both decide to do their duty and marry.

The Princess’s New Year Wedding by Rebecca Winters is a sweet romance. The author weaves a tale of two royals who do their duty and find their way to a HEA. The two main characters weren’t easy for me to like at first. By the end of the book I understood them better. Rebecca Winters did a good job of convincing me that these two characters were more than I thought at first.

Princess Lanza is the first of the three princesses of Domodossola to get a story. After meeting her two sisters in this book it will be interesting to see how the author’s imagaination brings us the story of their HEAs.
