REVIEW: The Secret That Shocked Cinderella by Maisey Yates

The Secret That Shocked Cinderella is a classic amnesia story written with the poise and imagination that I adore Maisey Yates for.

Riot (adore the name) awakes from a coma with the mind-blowing realisation a) she has a new-born and b) she is devastated she can’t remember falling in love. Immediately attracted to her fiancée Krav she struggles with her intuition which tells her that Krav actually represents danger and not the ideal he portrays himself as.

With a beautiful prologue setting the scene of an intense love affair Riot and Krav enjoyed prior to Riot’s coma and then the devastating details of where it all unravels, I really enjoyed Maisey Yate’s new release. The countries visited were stunningly immersive and fully delivered what Presents promises – an escape to exotic locations and boy oh boy their passion knew no bounds until tragedy strikes. But what I enjoyed most was Krav realising he got it wrong and he wanted Riot in his life so he grasps the second chance he’s been given with both hands. This of course means changing the narrative but he’s prepared to do that if it means Riot stays.

Of course, the inevitable is due to happen, Riot’s memory returns and fireworks are on! I love the theatrics this causes and the path to love between a man who has the stealth of a tiger and a beautiful, life loving young woman who is a joy to read although I do think she gets a bit too teary (but that’s just me).

Wonderful, wonderful story.
