The Text God: Text and You Shall Receive … by Whitney Dineen & Melanie Summers: When Jen Flanders moved to New York she had big plans of taking the art world by storm however having not sold a single painting and resorting to walking dogs to make ends meet, Jen finds that she is in dire need of a sign as to what is her next step. So when she receives a text message from the big man himself encouraging her not to give up hope, Jen can’t help but take this as divine intervention after if God says to push on who better to know? As Jen and G.O.D continue their text exchanges Jen finds more and more comfort and help from the big guy, however soon Jen realizes that the person she has been chatting with is not in fact the big guy but Gabriel Oliver Daly a friend of one of her dog walking clients. With her client pushing her to inform Gabe about the mix up Jen finds herself stuck in a tough spot trying to get Gabe to meet with her. If only Jen knew how close Gabe actually has been along!
“What the … God is texting me? Is this some new Verizon service? Because if it is, what in the heck am I paying for it?”
When Gabe agreed to mentor his best friends younger sister as she starts her career in law, he had no idea how wacky she would turn out to be and that she would definitely not cut out for the big bad world of law. Things only begin to get stranger when she continues to share random tidbits with Gabe. With his plate already full with Gabe trying to figure out if he still enjoys the law that he practices and his eight year long relationship coming to an abrupt end, the last thing Gabe was expecting was to be so enamoured by a young quirky artist all while still mentoring his friends odd sister. The question is will Gabe believe that it was a sign from above that pushed Jen and him together once he finds out who he has been chatting with all this time?
“He’s staring at you like a leprechaun looks at his gold,”
Brilliantly hilarious! This was an absolute hoot to read, I instantly connected to both Jen and Gabe. These two could not be more perfect for each other, their chemistry was so hot it was impossible not to root for them to get together! I loved the way that Dineen and Summers plotted Jen and Gabe’s entire interaction and meeting, the fact that they were right in front of each other the entire time unbeknownst to them was pure perfection. I have to say the touch of divine intervention was the perfect twist to this cute romcom.
“I’ve never met anyone like you, Jen.”
“You mean someone who paints slightly pornographic flowers?”
Gabe was such a great character and the fact that he was genuinely a nice guy made him giving Jen the advice that he did seem so natural. I loved that even though ‘the sisters friend’ had been coming of as such an odd ball Gabe continued to be supportive and kind to her. Also how cute was his relationship with his parents? The Daly’s were epic! I loved Mary and Joe to bits; also how’s those names for irony? I loved the way Mary helped push Jen and Gabe together in the way only a mother can. As for our erotic flower drawing Jen, what was not to love about her open optimism? She was such a relatable and down to earth character, that was easy to love.
The God Text is an absolute must read, this witty, hope inspiring, meet cute romcom will have you in stitches reading along as Jen and Gabe get up to their silly antics. This is definitely the type of book that you won’t be able yo help but want to go on and go about, all while secretly hoping for a sign of your owning! I can not wait for the next book in this hilarious series!

Text and you shall receive…
Jen Flanders moved to New York to be an artist. This translates into walking dogs for money, practicing yoga for sanity, and hitting up her friends at a local bakery to supplement her diet. Rent is due and she’s running out of cash. After begging the universe for a sign that help is on the way, her phone pings with an incoming text. GOD: You can do it; I believe in you!
Gabriel Oliver Daly agreed to mentor a friend’s younger sister. Unbeknownst to him, after losing her phone, said sister uses her dog walker’s phone to text him about a job offer. He responds enthusiastically.
Jen can’t believe GOD is actually texting her! But who is she to question the ways of the universe? On the first day of texting, GOD gets her a job that will keep her afloat. On the second and third days he offers even more help.
Gabriel starts to think his friend’s sister might be too flighty to make it in the legal jungle of New York. Why exactly does she need a survival job? Wasn’t she supposed to be interviewing for a position as a junior lawyer? And why is she texting him random (not to mention very personal) stuff all the time?
When they finally meet, Jen realizes GOD isn’t a deity but a divinely handsome lawyer. A complete stranger has answered all her prayers. After all, God does move in mysterious ways
