The Wrong Mr. Darcy by Evelyn Lozada: Oh dear this book just fell flat for me, normally even if a book isnt going of to well I try and look for some redeeming qualities, but unfortunately for this take on Pride and Prejudice just failed in my opinion.
Really if you ask me Jane Austen would shudder to see this trying to be passed of as anything remotely like her work. Now I know I might be sounding harsh but I will explain my low rating on this novel. Please keep in mind this is only my opinion.
So the basic plot of the novel follows small town sports writer Hara on her journey to getting her big break. Which is supposed to be interviewing a big shot sports star at this fancy hotel. Now in my opinion if the main character is supposed to be a sports journalist, she should have a good understanding of sports, this however is not the case for Hara. I found her lack of knowledge on her subject matter a major put off, but I powered on nonetheless in hopes things would improve. Sadly this was not the case. As for our Mr.Darcy I found that Derek did not really add very much to the novel, and most definitely was no mirror to his namesake.
As for the secondary characters, I feel that they can add so much to a story but once again I was let down, I found Lozada missed an opportunity to use these characters to add and build up her story. Such as our very brief meeting with Kitty. However I will say I did like that this novel did include a lot of people of colour, so that really was a plus for me.
I had a lot of hope going into this novel firstly as a rendition to a classic and being a fan of Basketball Wives, but I was sadly disappointed. At the end I felt like The Wrong Mr. Darcy was a flop and not one that I can recommend.

In Evelyn Lozada and Holly Lorincz’s lightly inspired Pride and Prejudice romantic comedy, two unlikely people discover the error of judging by first impressions and the beauty of family, friendship and love. This book will entice you through the last page.
Hara Isari has big ambitions and they won’t be sidetracked by her mother’s insisting that she settle down soon. She dreams of leaving her small-town newspaper behind, as well as her felon father, and building a career as a sports writer, so when she is chosen to exclusively interview a basketball superstar, she jumps at the chance. It’s time to show the bigwigs what she’s truly made of.
At the same time, she meets a rookie on the rise, Derek Darcy. Darcy is incredibly handsome, obnoxiously proud, and has a major chip on his shoulder. Hara can’t think of a man more arrogant and infuriating. However, fate keeps bringing them together—from locker rooms to elegant parties, to the storm of the century—and what begins as a clash might just be more complicated than Hara anticipated. When she begins to see Darcy in a new light, Hara is not quite sure if she should drop the ball or play the love game.
