Untying the Knot by Meghan Quinn: The saying in Chicago is that you are either a Rebel at heart or a Bobbie for life and for former professional baseball player Ryot Bisley it wasn’t even a question being a Bobbie was his life, aside from baseball the only other thing that mattered to him was his beautiful wife Myla… that was until Ryot was forced to retire early causing him to lose his entire identity but most importantly lose sight of his relationship with Myla. With his head buried so deep in trying to find his identity after baseball the last thing that Ryot expects is to be hit with divorce papers!

From their very first odd meeting Ryot has always managed to put a smile on Myla’s face but these last few months have been different. Not only is Myla unhappy with their California move but she can’t help but feel that she has become invisible to the one person that matters the most to her… her husband, Ryot. Tired of being put last and early getting scraps of the man she loves Myla decides to make a hard choice and serve Ryot with divorce papers… the only problem being Ryot refuses to sign them! Instead he is more determined than ever to figure out where he went wrong and win her back! But the question is is the knot they have found themselves in just too tight to untangle?

Untying The Knot was very different from Meghan Quinn’s normal silly cute, light romcom reads. This book was a bit more on the heavy, emotional side, now this being said there were notes of the cute witty banter that Quinn is famous for but it was just a little on the sparse side. I will be honest this really was not my favorite book by Quinn, this just felt a bit to long and drawn out with too much angst. It was really nice getting to see a few old faces like Huxley, JP, Lottie and Kelsey.

“Through every kiss and every touch, he silently holds on to that promise and strengthens it so there is no way we’re ever untying the knot that is our life together.”

I really liked both main characters; Ryot and Myla had this amazing chemistry and connection that was just palpable. I loved the way these two first meet and their cute DM convocations and getting to see their relationship build. I like that Quinn gave us chapters from both their past and the present, these glimpses into the beginning of their relationship really just cemented how perfect they were for each other. Even with all the issues that these two had going on the one thing that was undeniable was their connection and the passion that radiated off them. One thing that I really loved about this couple was the fact that they really loved each other, even when they were being petty they still wanted to be together. Gosh those three weeks before the Napa trip were both hilarious and intense! I loved getting to see a bit of Quinn’s antics coming out in these moments.

I just loved Myla, she was such a hoot to read. I loved the way her story started with using Ryot’s flag as a blanket. She really was a hilarious character to follow and I enjoyed getting to see this side of her come back towards the end of the book. But gosh was she carrying around some heavy baggage! The way her mother treated her and the lack of support from her father just broke my heart. This only made her all the more nervous to let someone else break her again and really I could not fault her for wanting to run when it felt like Ryot had forgotten about her.

As for our hero, well it was pretty hard not to love Ryot. This guy was the hero of heroes in the way he cared and wooed his girl. But gosh boy did you drop the ball! Clouded by his own insecurities he winds up letting Myla down but does our boy Ryot win her back. I loved the tender, patient and caring side of Ryot and this was very clear in the flash back chapters. Even though he was hurting after Myla asked for the divorce he still had hope for them and gosh this just pulled at my heart strings.

The thing that really didn’t work for me in this book was the entire Nicole situation. Now when we first meet Nicole, I loved her. She was a total hoot and just the kind of bestie any girl would want. But I did not liked what happened to her and that this was just one more thing to hurt Myla, grant things ended on a good note for Nicole it was just very unfinished for my liking. Also I just leaves room for Quinn to hit us with a major heartbreak in Banner’s book! And lets be honest Banner so definitely needs his own book!

Untying The Knot was a heartbreaking, slow burn, second chance romance. This book will definitely have you tearing up in a few places so be warned! Was this my favourite book by Quinn? No, but I would still recommend reading it!

Ryot Bisley is my husband.

Yes, the former third baseman for the Chicago Bobbies and absolute heart throb of the Windy City. That Ryot Bisley.

The first time I ran into him, he was grumpy, a horrific host, and left me on his sofa with nothing but a nylon baseball flag to use as a blanket.

The second time, he reluctantly bought me dinner, stared at my chest the entire night, and still sported that permanent frown.

The third time . . . well, that was a game changer. His smile captured me, his teasing charmed me, and his touches excited me.

So when he was called up to the majors that didn’t stop us from knocking it out of the park and all the way down the aisle.

Eleven years later…I’d love to say we’re happy as ever but the man who sent me dirty text messages every day is long gone and Mr. Frowny Face is back.

He’s so focused on trying to build a life after baseball that he doesn’t see the life we’ve already created together. . .so I make the hard decision and serve him divorce papers.

Problem is…my husband refuses to accept those papers. Instead, he has a new game plan that makes untying the knot of our marriage a little tricky. And just when I thought I wanted to be traded . . . he’s slowly, tantalizingly roping me back in.
