Washed Up by Kandi Steiner: At 40 years old Amanda is just starting to get her life back together and living for herself so the last thing she needs is for an accident to land her in hospital. And the very last person Amanda expected to run into is Greg anesthesiologist and also her son’s old friend. Only this time Greg isn’t so little anymore, this version of Greg is all man and he isn’t afraid to strut his stuff. This meeting if chance might just be the thing that Amanda needs to find a true happily ever after.

Wow! Hello slow burn romance! I will be honest by saying that the age gap romance is not a favourite trope of mine, but I did actually really enjoy Washed Up. The thing that I really loved about Amanda and Greg’s story is that they did not rush into the actual romance, they let their connection build and develop a friendship as they both faced challenges in their lives.

“We’re both so selfish, so desperate for just a taste of what we know we can’t have, that we ignore all the buzzing, blaring, neon warning signs, anyway.”

I absolutely loved the connection that Amanda and Greg formed, firstly I liked the past connection and that now they are somewhat on an equal playing field. Amanda was such an amazing character, I loved that she was a strong woman and that even though she was in an abusive marriage she fought to find her way out. Even with her divorce she did not allow her ex to over rule her or intimidate her.

“It’s ecstasy. Pure, evil ecstasy. Forbidden and full of risk but consuming in the way only the best things are.”

As much as I liked Amanda and that she was now starting to live life for herself and for what she wanted but it was Greg that sold this book for me. I loved that he played the role of accountability partner for both himself and Amanda. And I loved that Greg was so ready to commit and provide a steady and safe place for Amanda. I really liked that they developed a friendship first and let that grow into more. Also how can you not just swoon at a hottie doctor?

Washed Up was a really nice read, this age gap, second chance at love, friends to lovers romance is definitely worth checking out.

Book Info:

Publication: December 6th 2021 | Kandi Steiner |

It was just another day in the Emergency Department — until she was wheeled in through the doors.

Amanda Parks, my childhood best friend’s mom who I may or may not have secretly kissed before leaving for college.

I haven’t seen her in over a decade, and in so many ways, she hasn’t changed.

Same killer curves.
Same hypnotizing eyes.
Same reaction from my heart when I see her.

But something new?
There isn’t a ring on her finger anymore…
And I’m much more of a man than I was at eighteen.
