REVIEW: Wild Cat by Christine Feehan

In Wild Cat (Leopard People #8) by Christine Feehan, Siena Arnotto has Wild-Catbeen aware of Elijah Lospostos physically since she was in her teens but she’s had very little interaction with him until now. And while she knew there were rumors of his being on the wrong side of the law, Siena didn’t want to believe it. But it appears that Elijah is the bad man her grandfather warned her about, as she finds out when she delivers wine from her family’s business to his home. And the unfortunate impression he makes on her may take years to fade.

“I don’t now who you are, Elijah. That man who said those things to me or this man, the one who’s so sweet he makes me want to cry.”
“Wish I could say I was only the sweet one, babe, but we’re being truthful, and I have to admit I’m both.”

Elijah knows he is too emotionless and has too much blood on his hands to ever hope to win someone as pure and nice at Siena so he’s spent years trying to keep her off his mind. But when her grandfather puts Siena in harm’s way by sending her to Elijah’s house under false pretenses, the battle begins. It is a battle for him to win her heart and to keep her safe when leopard business threatens her life.

‘He had lost everything good in his life practically before his life had even started. Now there was Siena. Now there was a priceless gift, a treasure so unexpected and beautiful, he knew if she were taken from him he wouldn’t survive intact.’

Wild Cat had an alpha hero who charmed me after a rocky beginning and a heroine who firmly stood her ground while keeping an air of innocence around her. Talk about a fiery paranormal romance!

Christine Feehan’s hunky alpha males struck again in this eighth book in the Leopard People series. It seems like readers either love the powerful guys who run the show or they hate them, without much in between. I’m on the love ’em side of things. Like I said, Elijah did not start out on my good list at the beginning of this story but it didn’t take him long to totally redeem himself in my eyes. I kind of loved his inner thoughts and seeing just how wowed Elijah was that someone so good as Siena could love him. It was completely endearing and made me hope for their HEA that much more.

Siena was a nice character but I felt like we didn’t get quite as much time with her inner thoughts to get to know her as well as we did with Elijah. I did definitely empathize with her tough family situation and not knowing if she could trust Elijah. I could watch the progression of her emotions and the choices she made which in turn made Siena seem like a real person to me. Even her arguments and conversations with Elijah were written realistically–and were so much fun. They both had a lot of conviction in their ideas and feelings, making those scenes especially fiery and explosive.

As with all of Feehan’s paranormals, these shifters were very interesting and getting to read about their leopard side was a lot of fun. They were very sensual creatures and that passion also played out in their human form. Quite a lot, actually! There were times when the love scenes seemed a bit, ahem, abundant in comparison to where the storyline was going. But it did work out rather well at the end so who could complain about lots of wild romance, right? 😉

Heart-stopping action. Crazy sexy time scenes. Tender emotions. Wild Cat had a little bit of something for everyone who enjoys a solid paranormal romance.

Thanks for the review, Michele. When I saw the cover I knew it would be one of your reviews. LOL I’ve never read a Christine Feehan book before but I’ve heard she’s good.

LOL! You know me well, Marcy. 🙂 Yeah…Christine excels at creating alpha males who make it kind of tough to love them at first but who are good guys at their core. And her sassy & smart heroines are just so much fun!
