Witcha Gonna Do by Avery Flynn: Imagine being the brown crayon in a pack full of rainbow colours, well this is how Tilda Sherwood feels in her family of super powerful witches! As the only non magical Sherwood, Tilda can’t help but feel like the black sheep of the family, so when she winds up messing up one of her sisters spells and cursing her entire family she has no choice but to ask the one person she really doesn’t want to ask for help… her frenemy/crush Gil Connolly. Between the insane attraction that constantly seems to be pulling Tilda and Gil together the two have to team up to find a way to save the Sherwoods while uncovering some major secretes on the way…

The moment I saw that Flynn had written a witchy romance, I already knew that I had to get my hands on this book, after all Flynn has been one of my favourite authors for ages, sadly however Witcha Gonna Do just did not work for me. As much as I love a good witchy romcom read this book just felt too loud? While just not seeming to have the right flow for me to get fully immersed in the story.

As much as I liked Tilda and felt sorry for her, I just found her to be to over the top. My heart really did break for her and the fact that she always felt like the black sheep in the family, and the fact that they hide her true gift from her all this time really did suck. However I just felt like we never really got to know her more than at a surface level. Also I absolutely hated that she ‘spoke’ to the reader. This really did not work for me, it felt both unnecessary and childish. As for our hero Gil well he had a bit more dept to him. I liked the fact that he went through all of this so that he could help free his family. For all Gil’s hard, mean boy exterior he was a total softie and I really liked getting to see this side of him.

I did really like the chemistry and connection between Gil and Tilda. Their chemistry had Flynn’s writing style all over them. They where hot and steamy and totally adorable. I loved seeing their relationship grow from enemies, to friends, to allies and ultimately to lovers.

As much as I wanted to love this book, it was just not the book for me. I could not help but feel that Flynn was rushing to fit in as much information about this little world as possible instead of spreading it out into the coming books. Also there were for to many sub-plots. I just felt that there was no need to have the Resistance and the Council. Witcha Gonna Do was sadly not the book I had hoped for.

Could it possibly get any worse than having absolutely no magical abilities when you’re a member of the most powerful family of witches ever? It used to be that I’d say no, but then I keep getting set up on dates with Gil Connolly whose hotness is only matched by his ego. Seriously. I can’t stand him. Even if I also can’t stop thinking about him (specifically kissing him) but we’re going to pretend I never told you that part.

So yeah, my life isn’t the greatest right now, but then it goes straight to the absolute worst hell when I accidentally make my sister’s spell glitch and curse my whole family. And the only person who can help non-magical me break the spell? You guessed it. Gil the super hot jerk.

Now we have to work together to save my family and outmaneuver some evil-minded nefarious forces bent on world domination. Oh yeah, and we have to do all that while fighting against the attraction building between us because I may not be magical, but what’s happening between Gil and I sure feels like it.
