Today it is my pleasure to Welcome author Mimi Jean Pamfiloff to HJ!

Spotlight&Giveaway

Hi Mimi and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, The Boyfriend Collector, Two (Part Two of Two)!

Thank you for having me back to celebrate my 40th book!

Tell us about the book with this fun little challenge using the title of the book:

The Boyfriend Collector, Two is a pretty long title! LOL. What if I play with just the “Collector” part?

C is for Cinderella
O is for On a Journey
L is for Love
L is for Lying Family
E is for Everyone is Under Suspicion
C is for Close Call
T is for Therapist, as is Hot Therapist
O is for Oppressing Your True Romantic Feelings
R is for Rose, The Heroine with a Big Heart

Please share the opening lines of this book:

I am a man. A strong man. But that doesn’t mean I lack feelings.

Please tell us a little about the characters in your book.

ROSE MARIE HALE is my take on a modern-day Cinderella. In this version, her parents are deceased and she’s been left in the care of her greedy grandparents who treat her like a servant and have been feeding her lies since her early childhood, all in an effort to steal Rose’s inheritance.
Rose finds out the truth, and that’s where our story begins. She’s determined to win. But that’s easier said than done, especially because she must first define the meaning of this word. Does winning mean finding true love? Does it mean letting go of her past or staying alive or keeping her inheritance away from her grandparents? That’s the question she must answer.
BEX HUGHES, our hero, is…well, he’s a complicated one, so let’s just say he’ll do anything to help Rose, and it definitely backfires. His relationship with Rose starts out as patient-therapist, but the lines quickly blur as he learns more about Rose’s situation. The question is: How far is he willing to go and how much will he have to sacrifice, to help her? The answer: A LOT! And it just might break him.

Please share a few Fun facts about this book…

  • I really envisioned making this book more of an erotica, but found I couldn’t pull myself away from my writing style—heavy on the plot and character’s emotional development. In the end, I could only add steamy scenes where they naturally fit into the story line. So DANG! I guess I can’t write sexy-time driven books.
  • I had to change the cover (it showed a lot of hot men in tuxes standing around Rose) because too many people thought this was a reverse harem story! Oops!
  • I had originally planned to make this series 5 books long, but half-way through writing book one, I changed my mind. I knew I wouldn’t be able to wait that long to see Rose get her HEA!

What first attracts your Hero to the Heroine and vice versa?

BEX is the type of guy who, on the surface, seems cold and unemotional. But what attracts Rose to him are his actions. They are the actions of a man who cares deeply and never shies away from doing the right thing.

ROSE is fighter. She’s been kicked, lied to, and manipulated by the people closest to her, but she refused to let that define her. For Bex, her strength is a big turn on.

The First Kiss…

This is part two of the duet, so we don’t see another kiss for a very long time. But boy oh boy, do the two do a lot of thinking and talking about it. LOL. Here’s their first real kiss of this book:

I cross the room, stopping in front of him. I want to say something, but I can’t form any clear thoughts.
He grabs my chin, tilts my head, and kisses me. His lips are soft and silky and move in a sensually slow pace. The kiss is passionate, but not overbearing. Equality.
He pulls away and looks down at me. “You’re sure this is what you want?”
“Yes.”
“Good.” His blue eyes are fierce, but I see truth in them. He wants this just as much as I do.

If your book was optioned for a movie, what scene would you use for the audition of the main characters and why?

I would pick one of the scenes where Rose goes into explicit detail about her sexual experience with another man. It’s juicy! But probably not so appropriate here. So, my second choice would be the scene where Rose THINKS she’s won, but maybe not?

Frank adds, “You both need to come by my office in a few days to sign some additional paperwork required by the banks and county recorder, but other than that, we’re done.”
Done. Done? Done! I want to squeal and dance and scream at the top of my lungs. The mansion, which I plan to turn into a home for girls, is mine. My mother’s books are mine, and I will make sure they’re never forgotten. Her company, which manages everything from movie rights to merchandising, is mine. The cash in the bank is officially mine. I will never get back the nearly twenty-one years of my life that were stolen or my yearly allowances that my grandparents squandered away on parties, expensive trips, beach villas, and yachts, but I have my future, and I plan to do good things with it.
I vigorously shake Frank’s hand and then turn to Bex. He made this possible. He saved me. I want to kiss him so badly that I start leaning in but stop myself.
“Congratulations, Rose.” Bex smiles at me for the second time today, and all I can think is, If only he loved me. Because I could really grow accustomed to that smile. But today is not a day for regrets or looking to the past. Today is a day for being grateful. It’s over. I can finally…finally…
A heavy boulder drops into my stomach. Wait. No one came. Not even my aunt, who’d been in on everything. Not one of my grandparents’ lawyers. No Hail Marys to try to maintain control of Lana Hale Enterprises.
Something doesn’t feel right. They would never just let me walk away with the home they lived in for the last twenty-something years and the money they’ve been after just as long.
Fuck. They’re distancing themselves. They want everyone to think they’ve given up, but this isn’t over. It’s just beginning.

If your hero had a sexy-times play list, what song(s) would have to be on it?

Oooh… you know me! I always have a playlist for my readers, but I think Rose and Bex’s sexy-time theme song would be “Sweet Sublime” by Ruby Waters.
FIND THE FULL PLAYLIST HERE: My fave is “Red Dress” by Magic!

If you could have given your characters one piece of advice before the opening pages of the book, what – would it be and why?

Rose, you really shouldn’t be SO trusting.
Bex, you really should be MORE trusting.

What are you currently working on? What are your up-coming releases?*

Oh man! Where to start? I’ve got my lineup scheduled all the way through January 2021. Can you believe that? At the moment, I’m working on OHellNo #5, MY PEN IS HUGE (Teeheehee…) about two journalists who are in a fierce competition to land a huge story. He’s a cocky jerk, and she was his intern. Now they’re at war and well, there might be more to their anger than they’re letting on.
After that, I have a FUN NEW book I’ll be announcing, then another OHellNo and Librarian’s Vampire Assistant. So, lots of fun stuff coming!

Thanks for blogging at HJ!

Excerpt from The Boyfriend Collector, Two (Part Two of Two):

I stare him dead in the eyes, observing his every move. How does he look so comfortable? It kills me that I feel so much for this man, but he only sees me as one of his pathetic rescue pets. “Yes.”
“What in particular do you want to share?” His tone remains clinical and distant.
I didn’t say I wanted to share. I was only throwing out a hypothetical because I’m so stunned or hurt or…I don’t know. His emotional distance isn’t easy to swallow. But deep down inside, I know he’s keeping his word. He said the marriage was on paper only. Nothing between us changes. I’m on my own to date, travel, and live my life. He merely wants to keep me safe, and I’m grateful for everything he’s done. I am. Still, it’s hard to look at him and know he feels nothing for me except maybe a small physical attraction. Bottom line, he’s in this because he wants to be my knight and save me, but that’s not the type of love I’m interested in.
“Rose?” he prods.
“Oh. Sorry. I was going to ask how to assess things,” I lie. “I mean, I read that sex feels better after the first few times. Is that true?” Not that I’ve had sex even once, but Bex doesn’t know that.
He jots something down. I want to know what, but he probably won’t tell me. “I can’t answer that question.”
“Why not?” I ask.
“It’s subjective. Your,” he shifts in his chair and crosses his legs, pointing his lower torso away, “initial experiences might have been terrible or mediocre, but there’s no telling how it’s going to measure up down the road. It all depends on your partner.”
“So you’re saying I will just have to keep experimenting and see?”
He clings to his robotic expression, and it’s more proof that his feelings for me were never more than a superficial attraction, one he never acted on. In his defense, though, never did he—not once—mislead me. I strung myself along, reading hope into his every act of kindness.
“I’m not advocating you sleep around,” Bex replies. “I’m only sharing my experience. The first time isn’t an indicator of how good, or bad, sex feels later.”
“How was your first time? And don’t you dare say my question is inappropriate. I’m your wife now. Remember? I think we’ve crossed the inappropriate line and left it in the dust.”
He rakes his fingertips across the side of his short dark beard. He’s one of the few men I’ve seen who looks tempting no matter what he does with his facial hair. The man could probably sport some two-inch handlebars, and I’d hop on for a ride.
“You’re right.” He speaks in a low voice. “I need to get accustomed to our less than traditional relationship.” He pauses, flicking his pen against his pad of paper. “It was with a girl from my track team in high school.”
Of course he had sex in high school. He’s hot now, and I bet he was then, too. “How old?”
“Sixteen.”
“Did you enjoy it?” I ask.
“You mean all eight seconds?” He shrugs. “Sure, though I doubt she did.”
I try not to laugh. “So, am I to assume that sex got better for you?”
“I’m a man; sex is always good. But you can assume I’ve gotten better at making it last longer—kind of important for the woman.” He smiles, and two deep divots pucker in his cheeks. I never noticed them before, and I’m not going to lie; his smile, even when he shows a hint of it, makes me tingle. Pretty much everywhere. Right now, it’s concentrated deep inside my core.
“So what type of woman do you typically bless with these skills?” I ask.
“I don’t have a physical type, if that’s what you’re asking.”
Actually, I wanted to hear more about his exes. I don’t know if it’s weird or not, but part of me feels jealous. They’ve had him in bed. I haven’t. Thinking about him naked, his hard ass pumping between two naked thighs, is an image I see almost every night when I’m lying alone. I think about him next to me, running his fingertip over my pert nipple. I think about him trailing kisses down to my navel and continuing on.
And you realllly need to stop thinking about that now.

Book Info:

From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff comes the STEAMY Part Two and conclusion of The Boyfriend Collector.
My name is Dr. Bex Hughes, and I’m in love with a woman who cannot truly love me back. Unless I help her as my patient, and that is forbidden—a taboo in the eyes of the world and the worst professional sin for a therapist.
But what else can I do? Rose was once a real-life Cinderella. Now she’s wealthy, single, and free. Except she’s convinced that love is used to hurt people, family tries to murder you for money, and no one can be trusted. It’s all she’s ever known.
So I’m bending every rule I’ve ever lived by and helping her find her way to real happiness. Only, my self-control wears thin as I hear the details of Rose’s dating adventures. Can I prove I will love her unconditionally before my jealousy shatters her trust in me forever?
