Today it is my pleasure to Welcome author Rebecca Brooks to HJ!
Spotlight&Giveaway

Hi Rebecca and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, Wrong Bed, Right Brother!

Thank you so much for having me!

Please summarize the book a la Twitter style for the readers here:

Video gamer Amanda finally makes a move on her co-worker crush… and winds up in bed with his twin brother instead. They swear never to tell anyone about the mixup – but what happens when they can’t resist going back for more?

Please share the opening lines of this book:

“You, Amanda Perkins, are the woman of my dreams.”

Amanda whirled around and found herself face to face
with two glittering green eyes, two perfect dimples, and the
world’s most devilish grin. It didn’t matter what her brain
said—her body was already melting. Those were the words
she longed to hear. And Luke Miller was saying them—
right now—to her.

Please share a few Fun facts about this book…

  • Like Amanda, I firmly believe black boots are appropriate footwear for ALL occasions.
  • I had a blast interviewing running coaches to learn about their jobs in order to write Noah’s character. His running route and the half marathon he runs are all real places and events in NYC.
  • The idea for besties brunch that Amanda has with her friends each month came out of a monthly potluck brunch I used to have with a group of friends when we all lived in NYC together. It was a blast!
  • I love the towns in the Hudson Valley that Amanda, Noah, and their friends visit on the weekend getaway that starts off their wrong bed mishap. I didn’t model their trip off any one place but put together different distilleries, farm stands, etc. that I’ve been to. I wanted to give them a memorable weekend, and I think that definitely happens!
  • I literally have no idea why EVERY book I’ve written has some kind of public/we might get caught sex scene! What’s that about??? I have no idea, but this book is no exception. So I guess I’m not stopping anytime soon!

What first attracts your Hero to the Heroine and vice versa?

The funny thing is that Amanda and Noah have NEVER liked each other, so initially the answer to this question is ugh, absolutely nothing! She’s BFFs with Noah’s twin brother, who she’s been crushing on for years. While Noah has the same curly hair and piercing eyes as his twin, plus an incredible runner’s physique (he’s a coach after all), his type A, plan-a-holic personality isn’t for her.
Likewise, Noah’s only (barely) tolerated his brother’s BFF. She’s cute and all, but way too unserious and go with the flow.
When Amanda and Noah first wind up in bed together, it’s completely by accident. But they can’t stop stop thinking about is how good it was. It takes time for them to move beyond their unexpected physical chemistry and really get to know each other — and see each other in a new light.

Using just 5 words, how would you describe Hero and Heroine’s love affair?

Surprising, wildly hot, unexpectedly meaningful.

The First Kiss…

…happens completely by accident. Amanda thinks she’s getting into bed with Noah’s twin brother, Luke. She doesn’t know the brothers have switched beds. And Noah is so half asleep, he’s not even thinking about who’s climbing into bed with him. Things get hot and heavy and clothes start to come off… until Amanda moans the wrong brother’s name, and suddenly the lights come on!

Without revealing too much, what is your favorite scene in the book?

That “wrong bed” moment of their first kiss is absolutely my favorite. It was the scene I had in mind from the very beginning of the whole Accidental Love series and it was so much fun to finally get to write all that sexual tension! This is edited to be less NSFW and to fit the space. 😉

Luke brought his hands to her hair, three years worth of unkissed kisses consuming them both. He drew her closer, and when she threw her leg around him he ran his hand up her thigh to her ass, pulling her tighter.
She let out a low whimper. She hadn’t meant to; she knew she had to be quiet. It just kind of escaped… “Luke,” she groaned, wondering if he had a condom because she certainly didn’t, never imagining getting this far…
The next thing she knew, he was scrambling off her.
Then he turned on the light, glaring and harsh after the darkness she’d grown used to.
And she realized her mistake.
He wasn’t going to get a condom. In fact, he wasn’t going to continue this another second more.
Luke would have been smiling, some charm-your-panties-off grin to make her melt no matter what. Even if it was to say he’d changed his mind, they were too good of friends, tonight wasn’t the night.
There would have been two dimples on his face, even as he was breaking her heart.
But there was no smile. And there were no dimples.
There was no glitter in his eyes.
Because she wasn’t lying there, half naked and turned on out of her mind, looking at Luke.
She was looking at his twin brother, Noah.
Who was staring down at her and rubbing his eyes like if he blinked hard enough, she’d disappear.

If your book was optioned for a movie, what scene would be absolutely crucial to include?

Obviously the book is all about the growing romance between Amanda and Noah, but it would be 100% necessary to include one of the scenes with Amanda’s close group of friends. They show up in each of the Wrong Bed books, and it wouldn’t be this series without the friend group. I actually came up with the idea for the friends to have “besties brunch” in each book before I even thought about making them wrong bed books! So I’d definitely want to make sure these women get their time in the spotlight together. (With pancakes!)

Amanda looked at her friends circled around her and thought about how each one of them had chosen love. Not had it fall into their laps, but chosen it. She knew because she’d been at brunches just like this one, where Jessie, Talia, and Rose had all thought things were over. And she’d looked at them and it had seemed so obvious that it wasn’t—that it was worth one more shot. One more risk. One more chance to put their hearts on the line.
Didn’t she deserve the same chances? Shouldn’t she, too, say yes?

Readers should read this book …

if they like hot sex, tropey fun, feel good reads, and happy endings!

What are you currently working on? What other releases do you have planned?

Wrong Bed, Right Brother is the last of my Accidental Love series, and I’m so excited they’re all out in the world! First thing to do is take a breather and enjoy it. The books can be read as standalones in any order, but there’s still something really satisfying about having the complete set totally done. I’ve got two more series in the works — no release dates planned, but there’s more cooking!

Thanks for blogging at HJ!

Excerpt from Wrong Bed, Right Brother:

Noah got the group started on their warm-ups so he could have five seconds of privacy while his brain reeled.
Amanda showing up wasn’t part of the plan. He’d spent all this time convincing himself it was over—thank God, so he didn’t have to figure out what it meant that he’d had sex with her on a conference table in his brother’s office. Everyone had rebounds, slip-ups, one-time things with people they never saw again. It wasn’t worth worrying about.
But here she was standing in front of him. He folded his arms. “So talk,” he said.
“Jesus, never mind.” She stepped.
His shoulders tightened but he let his stance relax. “I’m just cold, okay? And surprised to see you.”
“That whole texting thing didn’t work out so well.”
“Is that what you came to talk about?”
“I told you that we can’t keep doing this.”
“This as in, meeting at six a.m. in Central Park when it’s freezing outside and I’m supposed to be leading a group in butt kicks?”
“Butt—what?”
“Never mind. It’s a running thing. But consider it done—we won’t make you crashing my training group a regular thing.”
She blew into her coffee in a huff. “I’m being serious, Noah. Not this.” She gestured around them. “I mean the other stuff.”
Her cheeks reddened from more than the cold. He couldn’t deny he felt a jolt of satisfaction at the sight. The reminder of that “other stuff” made him feel as warm as if he’d already done a lap around the water.
He tried not to smile. He told his face not to crack. He swore he wasn’t going to do it.
But goddammit, Amanda had a way of making all his plans go haywire.
“So let me get this straight,” he said. “You woke up before dawn. To come all the way from Brooklyn to Central Park. In the cold, when it’s about to rain. To see me.”
“It’s not like that,” she said, clutching her coffee cup even tighter now. “I’m trying to tell you in person, not over text, that we absolutely can’t keep doing this anymore.”
“Then don’t do it,” he said.
“Me?” Her jaw dropped. “You’re the one who followed me into the conference room. I’m trying to tell you—we can’t.”
His lips quirked up at the corners. Damn that smile. “I don’t remember you complaining so much when I had to cover your mouth to keep you from screaming my name.”
There. Her cheeks. She didn’t just flush—she flamed.
“That’s not—” she sputtered.
He took a step closer, glancing behind him to see the runners coming back from their route.
“Do you want to know what I think?” he whispered as the group began their stretches.
“Why do I have the feeling you’re going to tell me anyway,” she mumbled into the steam of her cup, not looking at him.
“I think you came here because you wanted to see me. I think you spent all week agonizing about whether to text me again, and you came all this way at the crack of dawn not to tell me off, but to tell me something entirely different.”
“I told you why I came,” she said. But her voice was quiet, not how she usually sounded, and she was still looking down.
He reached out and lifted her chin so he was looking into her eyes, dark and liquid in the clouds. She was beautiful. Early in the morning, sleep in her eyes, smell of coffee and damp leaves all around them. She was absolutely beautiful.
He wanted to kiss her right then. Press his lips to hers, close his eyes, and never stop.
The feeling caught him off guard, making him stagger back like he’d lost his balance. He saw her eyes narrow at him, as though his thoughts had flashed right across his forehead for the world to know.
Or maybe she was just confused because he was acting like an idiot, like he could barely keep himself upright. And there was no reason for that.
Was there?

Book Info:

I’ve been crushing on my coworker for months. And now he’s moving… across the country. I’ve got one shot to make my move. We’re all holed up in this amazing house upstate and tonight I’m going to sneak into his room and finally Make. Something. Happen.

So I go for it. I climb into Luke’s bed and the kissing is so much better than I imagined. Why did we wait so long to feel this? I moan his name and Bam! He jumps out of bed. WTF? It isn’t Luke. It’s his twin, Noah. I don’t even like Noah. And he certainly doesn’t like me.

This will NEVER happen again…until the next day against the barn door. Why can’t I stop seeing him? It will never work. We’re complete opposites. Enemies with benefits is a thing, right?

But what happens when I start to want more?

Meet the Author:

Rebecca Brooks lives in New York City in an apartment filled with books. She received a PhD in English but decided it was more fun to write books than to write about them. She has backpacked alone through India and Brazil, traveled by cargo boat down the Amazon River, climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, explored ice caves in Peru, trekked to the source of the Ganges, and sunbathed in Burma, but she always likes coming home to a cold beer and her hot husband in the Bronx.
