Blazing Fear by Leisl Leighton is the second book in her CoalCliff Stud series. The people in this community are very impressive with their strong ties and community awareness.

Dr. Prita Brennan is opening a new clinic in Wilson’s Bend, Wilson’s Bend Heath Matters. She and her adopted son Carter moved to Wilson’s Bend to get away from her deceased mother’s family’s strict cultural and religious beliefs. Her musician dad, Diarmuid Brennan sent her to live with her mother’s sister after her mother died. The constant traveling of a musician’s life was not good for raising a daughter alone according to him. Prita started out running the local doctor’s clinic when Doc Simpson needed someone to cover his patients while he recovered from by-pass surgery.

Now she has opened her own clinic in town and some people don’t like some of the changes she has made. So the threatening phone calls and a personal confrontation by local bully Bob Thompson started. Bob Thompson swears he isn’t making threatening phone calls to her though. Then who can it be? Also the fires started right at this time which was very dangerous during fire season. These were arson fires. And the arsonist set her home and clinic on fire too. The police have no clue who is responsible and Prita is very afraid for herself and Carter.

Flynn Findlay lost his wife Anna in a bush fire six years ago. He knows he has to be strong for his son Aaron but he has never really gotten over the trauma and fires throw him into panic attacks. He has discovered that Prita calms his fears. He is so very attracted to her and this calming influence is the cherry on top of the sundae that is Prita. When they figure out the fires are arson all of Wilson’s Bend and CoalCliff Stud are alarmed. In the meantime Flynn just wants to keep Prita, her son Carter, his family and his stud ranch safe. He is a strong, determined man and he can do this.

I enjoyed reading about the couples and the family. Fire season is a very dangerous time in Australia. Communities need to band together to fight these fires. Their dedication and quick action make all the difference. I got such a good feeling reading about this. Leisl Leighton has done a great job bringing thee people and this story to life.

Fire stole his past – now it is threatening to burn everything, and everyone, he loves. All over again…

Flynn Findlay likes everyone to think he’s in control, but the death of his wife during the bushfires six years ago changed everything. Now, even though it feels like a betrayal, Flynn can’t seem to escape his growing feelings for the beautiful new doctor in town. He’s never felt as truly alive as when he is with Prita – even his fear of fire doesn’t seem as bad.

Dr Prita Brennan is ready for a fresh start in Wilson’s Bend with her adoptive son, far from her overprotective family. It would be perfect, except some of the locals don’t like the changes she’s making to the practice. One of them is even making harassing calls. The handsome local horse stud owner, Flynn, is a further complication she doesn’t need right now.

But when harassment escalates to arson, to save the horse stud and their children, Flynn and Prita must work together to figure out who is after her – and why they are trying to burn to the ground everything she touches.
