Falling Hard for the Royal Guard by Megan Clawson: For Maggie Moore nothing is quite as appealing as an all consuming love story but being a single 26 year old in London really doesn’t have all that many knights in shining armour riding around even for someone like Maggie who working at the ticket office for the London Tower, instead she has lacklustre Tinder dates, catfishing wannabes and one obsessive ex. However it would seem that the romance God’s are shining down on our Maggie when she literally bumps into one of the guardsmen near her beloved Tower.

Too bad the one guy that has romance novel worthy good looks also happens to be trained not to be distracted by anyone or anything. But like the saying goes maybe slow and steady will win the race, as Maggie and Freddie begin to build a friendship Maggie can’t help but feel that there is more to Freddie than meets the eye but can our romance lover get to the bottom of the mystery that is Freddie?

Okay firstly let me just start off by saying that I absolutely love this cover! How cute is the little Corgi at the bottom, everything about this cover just screams cute and I was so loving it! When I read the blurb for Falling For The Royal Guard I was instantly hooked, this booked promised to deliver so much and I was so ready to jump into the world of royals and Beefeaters! I have to start by saying that I loved the fact that this was told from the point of view of a non royal and neither main character was a traditional royal. This was a really refreshing and more relatable take on this type of trope.

I liked Maggie, she had this very rushed, relatable feeling to her character. There were so many different layers to Maggie that I really enjoyed getting to explore in this book, at a glance she seemed like a super chilled out and self assured lady but deep down she was struggling with her body image and really finding her place in the world. I think this was part of what made her character feel so relatable to me. I do have to say that I loved seeing Maggie finally standing up to her ex and speaking her mind, girl it was about time that you told him off! Now with our hero Freddie, well he was an interesting one to uncover, I’m not going to give away to much on his character because it will just take away from finding out on your own but what I will say is that as we got to know the more I found myself liking him. There were a few moments that had me wondering, why would you do this Freddie but it all worked out in the end.

I will say that I absolutely loved the other Beefeaters, these guys just added so much of laughs and a real fun vibe to the book. Falling Hard For The Royal Guard is a definite must read, this book is a nice mix of serious, cute, emotional and funny.

I do love this cover! I’m always disappointed when a cover that screams fun has zero fun parts in the book. I sound like this one lives up to its cover.
