REVIEW: Plain Retribution by Dana R. Lynn

Plain Retribution by Dana R. Lynn is a very well written combination of Amish fiction and suspense, and also touches a personal chord in a way- as the main character, Rebecca, is deaf.

While I am not deaf, I do have some hearing loss as does my husband. He relies on lip reading quite a bit. It was impressive that the main police officer in the story is so fluent in ASL and also in other forms of signing, and was able to communicate with Rebecca in a way that put her at ease.

In “Plain Retribution”, Rebecca is a young woman living in the English world, having left the Amish community to further her education and to help others who are deaf. Due to her circumstances and reasons, she still maintains a close relationship with her Amish family. When Rebecca is attacked outside the store where she works, and in the days following, when her friends are attacked, police officer Miles Olsen starts putting loose ends together. He and Rebecca realize that each of the ladies being attacked were those that were kidnapped together as teens and who testified against that kidnapper. Miles sets out to find who is responsible for the current attacks given that the original abductor passed away in prison.

While Miles is searching for the evil person responsible for terrorizing Rebecca and her friends, he also fights his growing feelings of affection and love for Rebecca, trying to focus on his mission to protect her.

This is a well written suspense, which definitely keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. I recommend “Plain Retribution” for all lovers of romantic suspense.
