Running the Red Light by Kelsey Browning: Roxanne the proverbial “grits” girl. She was told she never would amount to much, verbally beaten down by her father, with learning disabilities she never knew how to deal with grew up and was 18857911determined. Between hard work and grit she managed to open up a lingerie store and flourish. Except now all of these things keep happening… was she really meant to flourish or was this just a taste before everything went away?

Jamie had his life on track. A up an coming young lawyer with a great firm he was determined to rise through the ranks and rise fast to become partner. He somehow managed to become a silent partner in not one but two businesses back in his hometown and now has become embroiled in the chaos of problems. When his firm “suggests” he needs a wife to help him he is completely thrown for a loop. Will his desire to become partner outweigh his hearts desire?

When Roxanne and Jamie meet there is definitely something in the air, something that keeps coming back every time they are near one another. They both have baggage and need to work through their pasts but sometimes the most screwed up childhoods bring adults closer than ever before.

This work is definitely part of a series and I felt like I was missing a little bit of the backstory walking in during the middle of the series but it didn’t take long to get hooked on the characters and find myself rooting for Roxanne. Ms. Browning has a way of getting you involved in the all of the characters and I find myself wondering when the next of the series will be out to learn more about this small town group.

After wearing a “Least Likely to Succeed” label all her life, Roxanne Eberly is hell-bent on making her Red Light Lingerie store successful. Although the residents of small-town Shelbyville, Texas, are a little…lingerie-resistant, she’ll win them over eventually. So when a former employer sues her, putting a major wrinkle in her careful plans, she reluctantly accepts help from hot-stuff Houston attorney Jamie Wright.

Jamie’s on track to become his firm’s youngest partner, but discovers an unwritten prerequisite—marriage. Turns out, the only woman he wants is Roxanne, but peddling thongs and sex toys isn’t a suitable career for the spouse of an up-and-coming attorney.

Jamie’s tangled up in Roxanne’s lawsuit, her life and her lingerie. But if they’re ever going to make it work, Roxanne’s big-city boy will have to decide what he values more: the career he always thought he wanted or the woman he never thought he’d fall for.
