Stranded for One Scandalous Week by Natalie Anderson was a stunning and fun read, set on beautiful Waiheke Island, which is a 30-minute ferry ride from where I live in Auckland, New Zealand.

Natalie Anderson had me at Chapter 1 when Australian Ash returns to say goodbye to his mother’s beautiful beach house only to discover beautiful archivist Merle in his bath, clad in nothing but bubbles and sipping the world’s finest champagne. An exciting kiss leads Ash to promises Merle his nights, on the condition she promises Ash her days for an entire week.

Ash is a charming rogue, full of flirtatious rebellion. Of course, it’s just a front. Ash isn’t the carefree person he portrays. To move forward he needs to battle his past demons and shames. Merle is a beautiful and kind hearted and quite possibly the perfect person to help him through but of course he’s blind to what is in front of him. Are sensual nights and adventurous days enough or will Ash need to leave once the week is up?

I can hand on heart say how lovely Waiheke Island is and I think Natalie Anderson did a fantastic job of supplying the escapism of a Presents while adding a couple of Kiwi nods. The Kiwi in me would absolutely love champagne and oysters for breakfast. I’ve had a few Oyster shooters at Waiheke and I really enjoyed the summer vibe the location brought to the book.

I really enjoyed Stranded for One Scandalous Week. The characters were really likeable, the storyline had the right amount of fun, sass and seriousness. I look forward to meeting Ash’s brother in book two and I really enjoyed the ending chapter, which I can’t really go into but it brings back the location of the first exciting kiss. Great read!
