In Swept Away by the Seductive Stranger (The Christmas Swap #2) by Amy Andrews, taking the train has always been a fun experience for Felicity Mitchell, but on her return home, she finds her journey is one she’ll never forget when she meets Callum Hollingsworth. Both know that what happens on the train should stay on the train, except nothing is ever that simple. Since Callum is the new locum; a doctor temporarily stepping in for another at the practice where she works as a nurse? Will they be able to keep things strictly professional between them, or is their chemistry too strong for them to be able to do that?

”We seem to do that a lot,” he said after a silence that was loud enough to obliterate the music. “Avoid talking about this thing between us. I’m not sure it’s healthy.”
“No,” Felicity shook her head vigorously. “Unhealthy would be flat-out denial. I’m not denying it. I’m ignoring it.”
“And by it you mean our red-hot sexual attraction?” Felicity’s fingers tightened around Callum’s unnecessary summation.
“Yes,” she muttered. As if she needed any reminding.

I have never read a book by Amy Andrews that I didn’t enjoy, and this one was no different. Right from the beginning, I was hooked by the hero’s dilemma. Why was he moving to be a small town doctor? What happened to him that he can no longer work in the specialized field of medicine he was so good at? Yet, it was the moment that the hero and heroine met that made this story a real page turner for me, especially after they discover the truth. That their time together is going to be more than a one-night stand.

As for the characters, I liked how the heroine provided quite a challenge for the hero. She’s full of courage in the way she wasn’t afraid to say what was on her mind, especially when it came to something she was passionate about. Certainly, she shows the hero that being a small town doctor is nothing like being a doctor in the city. That he needs to see that being courteous to his patients instead of being efficient and rushing them through goes a long way. In other words, she challenges him to be a better doctor. Also, I could understand why she was so hesitant to give the hero a chance after she learns they’ll be working together. What happens if they don’t work out and things become awkward at the practice? Then again, her last relationship didn’t go the way she thought it would, so that’s another reason why she’s concerned about dating a co-worker.

He quirked an eyebrow at her. “What are you doing?”
“I’m asking Mike what he thinks I should do.”
A bigger frown this time. “Mike?”
“Yeah. You know, the guy in my phone who talks to me and tells me stuff like why the sky is blue and where the nearest hairdresser is.”

While Callum, he’s been through a lot and it’s not easy for him to adjust to being a doctor working in a small town practice. Both he and Felicity face some tough medical problems when dealing with patients that brought tears to my eyes, but at least they had each other to deal when the outcomes didn’t turn out like they hoped for. But what I liked most about the hero was how tenacious he was once he realized how much he wanted Felicity in his life. Who knew asking Mike would work in his favor?

Overall, Ms. Andrews has penned a wonderful novel in this medical romance where being strangers on a train leads to a strong romance worth fighting for. The way this story ended had me smiling, because Callum had to face his past to help him realize what he wanted for his future. Although there was never any doubt that he wanted the heroine to be part of his future, and he proves just how much he wants her with his actions in front of the town busy-body. I would recommend Swept Away by the Seductive Stranger by Amy Andrews, if you enjoy small town romances or where strangers on a train find happy ever after when they least expect it.
