The Bodyguard Affair by Amy Lea: Andi is all about controlled predictability. The less out of order and sudden surprises the better. By day she is a super
efficient assistant and by night she is a secret steamy romance novelist. So when a scandal hits the Prime Minister’s office, the last thing Andi expects is to be shoved into a fake relationship with the man she hoped she’d never see again… the brooding and annoyingly handsome bodyguard who disappeared on her after a single unforgettable night. Nolan is a walking complication with a protective streak and a past he refuses to talk about. Now he has no choice but to protect her…publicly, closely and very convincingly. As they face the spotlight together, they need to learn hoe to navigate nosy press, political chaos and the minefield of their unresolved attraction. But as old feelings resurface and guarded walls begin to slip their pretend romance starts to feel dangerously real…now both of them needs to decide what they’re really fighting for…duty and reputation…or each other.
I have to say that I found myself really loving The Bodyguard Affair, there was something about this book that instantly drew me in and making it quickly became one of those romances I couldn’t put down. Lea delivers a romance that feels both comforting and quietly powerful and I found myself really caring about both Andi and Nolan as they navigated their journey together. With the perfect mix of emotional depth, soft humour and genuine chemistry this is the kind of book that you are going to want to get lost in.
Andi was sharp, capable and quietly vulnerable, simply someone who spends so much of her life supporting others that she forgets to make space for herself. This only made me love getting to see her realise that she too is a priority and finally learning to crave out time for herself. One of the things that I loved about her character was her secret creative life as a romance author, this just adds another layer to her character, showing us a woman who longs to be seen beyond her efficiency. Nolan on the other hand carries a quiet heaviness that never tips into melodrama. His loyalty, emotional restraint and the weight of his family responsibilities make him both loveable and deeply human. These two just balanced each other in away that felt real and relatable, they didn’t try to change or alter the other but rather support and learn to trust and relay on someone else.
The chemistry between Andi and Nolan simmered from the moment they were forced back into each other’s paths. What makes it work so well is the blend of tension and tenderness, there was a charged undercurrent from their past that constantly bobbed throughout their interactions but it was the slow emotional reconnection that really ignites the spark and won me over. Their banter just felt natural, their quiet moments feel intimate and even their conflicts carry a sense of genuine care. You can feel the pull between them long before either of them is willing to name it and watching their guarded edges soften around each other created a satisfying slow burn kind of heat. For me it was the fact that they did not need drama or a big blow up to build their connection, it was the small vulnerable moments that brought these two together in a way that just felt natural and beautiful.
Overall I found myself loving The Bodyguard Affair this was the kind of book that was more than just a romance, it had heart, honesty and two characters that just felt real and relatable. Lea did a great job in blending warmth, humour and emotional depth to create a book that was simply delightful to read!

Andi Zeigler lives a double life. By day, she’s the no-nonsense, steadfast personal assistant to the Prime Minister of Canada’s wife. By night, she slips out of her heels and writes romance novels under a top-secret pen name. But when her steamiest book, The Prime Minister & Me, unexpectedly becomes a bestseller, rumors of a real-life affair between her and the PM start swirling out of control.
Enter Nolan Crosby, the PM’s new close protection officer (aka bodyguard) – and Andi’s failed one-night stand from three years ago. Nolan’s in town very temporarily to care for his mother, who’s battling early-onset Alzheimer’s. But when the scandal erupts, Andi ropes him into a fake-dating plan.
As loyal employees, they’ll pretend to date for the summer, just long enough to put the scandal to bed and save their boss’s reputation. In an unexpected plot twist, Andi and Nolan discover that keeping their romance strictly fictional might be easier said than done.
