The One Who Loves You by Pippa Grant: For Upper East Side princess and business powerhouse in the making Phoebe Lightly, Tickled Pink, Wisconsin is absolute Hell! But after her grandmother Estelle Lightly has a near death experience something changes and she is now on a mission to help her family right their wrongs and fix their bad karma or face the possibility of not being allowed into Heaven. Which is how the entire Lightly clan finds themselves with no wifi, no real connection to their normal lives and now living in the towns abandoned high school. To say this is less than ideal would be an understatement which is why Phoebe is determined to find away to get out of this little town, and if she has to team up with the hot grumpy fishing lumberjack Teague Miller then so be it! However the last thing that Phoebe could have ever anticipated was to actually build relationships and bonds with the residents of Tickled Pink or much less Teague Miller the grump himself.
The absolute last thing that Teague could have ever expected when he sold the old run down school building to the wacky eccentric rich lady was to have his quaint little town taken over by a bunch of spoiled trust fund babies who have never done a days worth of real work in their lives. What started of as making a few quick bucks to help rebuild the town bridge soon turns into a lot more work than Teague bargained for, as much as Teague finds himself wanting to get rid of the Lightlys he can help but find himself being more and more intrigued by Phoebe and her determination to be the best version of herself regardless of the number of times she falls into the lake. But what happens when all the press surrounding the Lightlys brings Teague’s past to light one that he had no plans on ever revisiting…
“You’re gonna have to figure out who you are and what you want on your own. Nobody else can do it for you.”
LOVED!! The One Who Loves You is easily my favourite book for the year! This hilariously quirky cute book just stole my heart right from the moment the Lightlys set foot in Tickled Pink and I only just kept on loving them! I have always been a fan of the big city girl goes to the small town and falls for the simple way of life trope and I just have to say that Grant has well and truly knocked it out of the park with Phoebe and Teague’s story.
Oh Phoebe, she was one of the best characters that I have ever read, not only did she have a sense of realness to her but I loved getting to see her realise that she did not like the person that she has been all her life and make the changes to be a better person. Her journey to this realisation however was hilarious for all watching! I just loved her determination in all that she did, be it trying to be the next head of the family business or trying to save her own soul, Phoebe gave it her all and this made her all the more love able, especially while she was forming bonds and relationships with the towns people. I really enjoyed getting to see her rebuild not only herself but also her relationships with the rest of her family, especially with Tavi.
“A flat tire, blue balls , and a blossoming obsession with one unexpectedly and inconveniently attractive socialite lady boss.”
Our man Teague Miller was an interesting one to say the least, from the start it looks like Teague has everything figured out; living his best life in the small town with his goats, his daughter and being besties with his ex wife and her new wife, but boy were we all wrong. Teague has his fair share of secrets and a past not all that different from that of Phoebe’s which in a way made their connection all the more serendipitous, well that is if he had come clean earlier, but never fear Pippa gives us that swoony heart melting happily ever after that we all wanted in the end.
I just loved the connection between Phoebe and Teague, what started of as instant dislike only grew to unlikely friends to one insanely steamy friends with benefits relationship and finally into a heart warming perfect soulmates match. I loved getting to see these two banter and throw barbs at each other and getting to see their relationship evolve into a support for each other. But gosh was Teague kind of mean at first making Phoebe work for a place in his life and really work on improving herself. I really liked that Phoebe did not judge Teague or his oddly perfect family, this only prove the fact that she was a really good person deep down.
For me secondary characters are everything and this book had the best of them in bucket loads! I just loved all the residents of Tickled Pink, their laid back lifestyle and their sense of togetherness. I loved getting to see them pulling pranks on the lightlys but ultimately being there to support them when needed. I just loved Bridget and all the sass she brought to the book, not only was she a hoot to read but she had a really unique story. As for the Lightly clan well lets just put it this way they really needed to help save their souls! I loved getting to see Gigi bossing them around but not really doing any of the soul fixing herself.

If the Upper East Side had an evil twin, it would be Tickled Pink, Wisconsin. This run-down, backwoods town isn’t worthy of the footprint of my Louboutins, never mind all of me.
But when my grandmother has a near-death experience and realizes we Lightlys can’t buy our way into heaven, she relocates the family to Tickled Pink to work on improving our souls. And that’s how I trade my heiress existence for gigantic bugs, dishwater coffee, and a cranky single dad named Teague Miller.
Teague spends his days fishing, raising his spunky teenager, and after an unfortunate incident involving cheese curds, living rent-free in my head. The one thing he and I can agree on is that I don’t belong here. He’s willing to help me escape—until the unexpected happens.
I kind of like him. I might even more than like him.
But am I ready to give up the life I adored for a man I love to hate?
