The Return of Mrs. Jones by Jessica Gilmore Lawrie Bennett was having one heck of a 30th birthday. Out of work she returned to the closest thing she could call a hometown without her fiancé, with out a clue as to what she was going to do next and as she was 18778831celebrating her 30th year she runs into her ex husband. What else could go wrong? What was happening to her well laid plan?

Jonas Jones knew there was going to be trouble when he heard through the village grapevine that his ex-wife was in town. It had been 9 years and they had married young, but still there was a lot of anger there. He wasn’t the young surfer anymore though, he had coffee shops, hotels, a concert weekend…he was successful now.

Jonas and Lawrie begin to work together, getting thrown together in all sorts of situations realizing that maybe they were too young to get married. Their lives were so much different then, but they were the same people deep on the inside. Would those people be strong enough to get them through this time or would they walk away from each other again?

This is my first experience with Ms. Gilmore’s writing. The story she weaves with Lawrie and Jonas is sweet and kind. They had a past and that past and the issues of their childhood are still with them. Somehow she helps them to realize how to be grownups and actually deal with their issues. I did love Jonas’ realization that nine years hadn’t changed a thing for him though, that kind of love is just more than amazing and Ms. Gilmore really did an amazing job with it’s description. I had some problems with the transitions in the story and wish that Ms. Gilmore would have spent a little more time developing their new relationship but overall it was a very sweet story.

The woman he never forgot…

Of all the places, Lawrie didn’t expect to be celebrating her thirtieth birthday in the seaside town where she grew up. And she certainly didn’t expect to be celebrating it with her estranged husband, Jonas Jones…. But life is full of surprises. His devastating smile and edgy good looks still have the power to send her heart racing!

Seeing Lawrie again intrigues Jonas—while he hasn’t forgiven her, he can’t say he’s forgotten her, either. And while they may not be teenagers anymore, there’s no denying the sparks that still fly between them…
