The Wicked Aftermath by Melissa Foster is the second book in her The Wickeds: Dark Knights at Bayside series. You’ll need tissues for this One! Boxes and boxes of tissues! Melissa Foster delivers a powerful emotional punch with a heartwarming Happily Ever After!

Twenty-four-year-old Leah Yates works as a waitress at the Salty Hog, a restaurant and bar owned by Conroy and Ginger Wicked. She, her nineteen-year-old brother and her two adopted little girls, Junie and Rosie had moved to Cap Cod, Massachusetts from North Carolina. At the young age of eighteen Leah had taken on the responsibility of raising her thirteen year old brother River after their father’s death. Leah had a dream about Cape Cod and after researching the area the family moved there. While working at the Salty Hog Leah became aware of Tank Wicked, one of the sons of the owners. She felt strange around Tank, didn’t know why, and tended to avoid him as much as possible when he was at the Salty Hog. The night Leah came to understand why she felt so strange around Tank was a very tragic night. Tank entered her life and that was the beginning…

Benson “Tank” Wicked owns a tattoo shop, Wicked Ink, and is also a volunteer firefighter. Tank is a member of the Dark Knights of Bayside. The motorcycle group is known as protectors of their community and Tank is practically the poster child for that philosophy. When he first saw Leah Yates at the Salty Hog he was shocked by how attracted he was to her and how protective he felt toward her. Tank didn’t know much about Leah. No one did. She was a quiet and private person. Then tragedy struck and Tank’s protectiveness led him to stand by Leah and do everything he could for her and her family. But protective wasn’t all he felt toward Leah. And that was the beginning…

Once again this author has written the sweetest, hottest love story. Melissa Foster writes romance with a capital “R.” Her stories are always filled with the most romantic gestures. In this one Tank keeps those romantic gestures rolling out throughout the story – handling details so Leah doesn’t have to after the tragedy, getting wall mounts to hang a special guitar, a hike to Cranfest and so many more. One of the best parts of the story were the scenes with Tank and Junie and Rosie. I loved the scene where the girls are shopping for Halloween costumes with Leah and have major meltdowns there. Tank shows up to save the day. He promises Junie she can dress as a tattoo artist. Rosie wants all the costumes and Tanks talks her into just one so she was going to be Tinky Belle but to accomplish this Tank has to agree to be Petey Pan, green tights and all. I pictured this in my mind with much merriment. This story once again was true Melissa Foster greatness where she made me cry, sad and happy tears. This book was truly inspirational in how Ms. Foster has the characters handle loss. Next up is Dwayne “Gunner” Wicked’s book. Can’t wait.

QOTD: Does tragedy bring people together or break them apart?

THE WICKED AFTERMATH is an emotionally gripping story of love, loss, and hope, with a rich and entrancing happily ever after. Set on the sandy shores of Cape Cod, the Wickeds feature fiercely protective heroes, strong heroines, and unbreakable family bonds. If you think bikers are all the same, you haven’t met the Dark Knights. The Dark Knights are a motorcycle club, not a gang. Their members stick together like family and will stop at nothing to keep their communities safe. Some of the Wickeds’ love stories will be hilariously fun and deeply emotional, others will tear at your heartstrings and include injections of humor, but they will all leave you wishing you could climb between the pages and join them. All Wicked novels may be enjoyed as standalone romances.

When the person you blame for your grief is the only one who can save you from the pain…

Tank Wicked lost his sister and has since vowed to save everyone else in his path. He lives by the creed of the Dark Knights motorcycle club, sworn to protect and respect his community. He selflessly saves lives as a volunteer firefighter and treats the men and women who work for him at his tattoo shop like family. But life isn’t a balance scale where good deeds negate bad things to come, and one foggy night life guts Tank once again. When a car careens over the side of a bridge and into a river, Tank springs into action, plunging into the water to rescue the passengers. Four people go into the river, but only three come out alive.

Leah Yates is just trying to make it through each day. When the man she blames for her grief becomes the only one who can pull her from the depths of despair, she discovers that even hope comes at a price. Maybe this time she won’t have to face it alone.
