In Woo Me by Karina Bliss, after the man she was seeing leaves her for his ex-wife, Jen Tremaine decides she’s through with men. However, that decision isn’t so easy when she accepts the dare her two best friends have challenged her with. That she’s to wear a cow costume to the Bachelor and Spinster Ball they plan to attend. She never expected it to attract so much attention, whether it be good or bad. But when trouble strikes and a handsome security guard comes to her rescue, she begins to see the error of her ways. That perhaps there are still good men available, and that maybe he’s the right one for her, if she’s willing to take a chance.
They’d all noticed him – heck, even Jen had been tempted to swish her tail. Except he hadn’t been looking at her. He’d been too busy checking out her girlfriends with the appreciative glint of a sex starved male.
“I didn’t recognize you with your mouth closed,” she said.
He grinned, not denying it. “I’ve been in the desert for months.”
“Next you’ll be telling me about the horse with no name.”
He chuckled. “Mine’s Logan. And you are…?”
Oh, no, anonymity was all that protected the last shred of her dignity. She straightened Clarabelle’s head. “If the horse won’t tell you his name,” she said reasonably, “why would you expect a cow to?”
When his sister asks him to be a security guard, for the Outback Bachelor and Spinster Ball, Logan Turner never imagined finding love. He also never thought he’d face a challenge tougher than those he endured as a Special Forces soldier. But convincing the woman he’s just met that they could have a future together may be the one that finally gets the better of him, especially when she’s leaving the country the following day.
This is the second novella of the Outback Bachelor Ball series, and it did not disappoint. It was fast-paced, amusing, and entertained me from start to finish so much so that I couldn’t believe how quickly I finished it. It’s a story about finding the one, encompassing a heroine on the rebound that has decided men aren’t worth her time, and a hero determined to change her mind. The hero faces quite a challenge as Jen has relationship issues, and neither is quite sure whether she can overcome them until Logan gives her an ultimatum.
Logan helped her pick everything up. “I’m adding my number,” he said, tapping it into her cell before returning it. “In case you find yourself in more trouble.”
“Give me your cell,” she ordered, piqued at his assumption. She brought up his phone contacts. “Here’s mine in case you want to go looking for trouble.”
“Are you flirting with me?” Amusement deepened the blue of his eyes and Jen allowed herself a brief immersion.
“Sure,” she said. “Why not?”
The dialogue was highly entertaining, and made me smile every time Logan and Jen bantered. Because it was playful and helped Jen see that there were still decent men in the world. There were also fun moments between Logan and his sister. They have such a close relationship, and it shows when they’re conversing either about Jen or about him being added as part of the security team. He’d do anything for her and vice versa, even if it takes a little bit of convincing to get what they want. However, it also gets very intense when Jen makes a bad decision to do with their budding relationship.
I really liked both characters, especially Logan. He’s strong, and tenacious in going after what he wants, and what he wants is Jen. Even if he has to push her into a conversation she’d rather not have, so that she can see how much she’s already begun to mean to him. While Jen, she’s sensible and cautious. Especially when it comes to relationships because of her parents and her recently failed one. But when she’s with Logan, she’s the total opposite. As proven by their intense and instant chemistry, which spills over onto the pages in some scorching sex scenes that illustrate love at first sight perhaps does exist.
In the end, this was a fun and charming read, where the cow puns made me laugh and the close relationship the three women – Ellie, Jen and Beth – have helped bring a happy ending for this couple. If you haven’t read Ellie’s story called Win Me, make sure to read it first before diving into this one. As it gives readers a better understanding, of the secondary characters and why the women have reunited to attend the ball.
I would definitely recommend this story if you’ve read the first book of this series, or if you enjoy quick reads that provide light, humorous moments.

Can true love overcome a bad hide day and a series of unfortunate events?
Disillusioned in love, Jen Tremaine is done with men. So when her best friends dare her to wear a cow costume to their reunion at an Outback Bachelor and Spinster Ball, she’s all over it. Who would have thought dressing as a heifer would make her irresistible to a bunch of lasso-twirling, drunken cowboys?
Maybe you should have thought this through, says the sexy security guard who keeps finding her at the center of trouble. Even though Jen’s always dismissed soul mates as a load of bull, the sizzle between them is making her wonder: What if you met The One while wandering lonely as a cow? Would you find the courage to become a believer?
When ex-Special Forces soldier Logan Turner is roped into helping out with security at the B&S ball, he isn’t expecting to find love – but after months in all-male company he sure is hoping for lust. He certainly isn’t expecting to fall for a feisty, funny, trouble-making Cowderella. Only problem is, she’s leaving Australia tomorrow. Convincing Jen they can still have a future together may wind up being the toughest mission of his life.
