Anatomy of a Meet Cute by Addie Woolridge: Starting a new job is stressful enough without having to have shared one less than flattering not so cute meet cute with your almost boss, and for new fellowship resident Samantha this is exactly the case when she mistakes one of the doctors from her research fellowship for the passenger in need of help. Talk about awkward! Things are about to get a whole lot more awkward now that Sam learns that Grant is actually one of the senior fellowship advisors that she will be working with… can Sam navigate her new work environment, her demanding mother and these feelings that are brewing for one Dr.Grant?

If you are a fan of medical dramas than Anatomy Of A Meet Cute is most definitely a book that you need to get your hands on! I really enjoyed reading Sam and Grant’s slow burn romance. I will say as far as romance novels go, I felt that this was more of a medical drama with a touch of romance but that was not a major issue for me. One of the things that I really liked about this book was how inclusive it was in terms of race and gender, we also get a beautifully diverse group of characters that make this book completely relatable for any reader.

Sam was actually a really interesting character to follow, I loved her passion and desire to help the communities close to her heart and help make life easier for them. However I will say there were moments that I wanted to just shake her and give her a bit of a backbone, I did find that her relationship with her mother to be a bit toxic. There were a few moments that Sam really needed to stand up for herself and stop being a doormat but as the book progressed we go to see her really learning to say no and learning to put herself first even if it meant being a bit hard. As for our hero Grant, well I loved that he was able to stand his ground and did not melt to all of Sam’s jabs and barbs. He was the perfect counterpart for Sam in more ways than one. I do wish that we got a bit more of Grant’s backstory and what made him tick, rather than him just being the love interest for Sam, again this was neither here nor there in terms of taking away from the reading experience.

Like I said earlier this book really was not to heavy on the romance and rather more of a medical drama, in away it kind of reminded me of The Resident and Grey’s Anatomy. Most of the romance was fade to black but in this book that was not really a major issue. I will say that I loved the build up of tension between Grand and Sam. These two had a nice amount of banter between them then that had been growing right from that less than cute meet cute on flight. I have to take a moment to mention Sam’s mission to make prenatal, postnatal and birthing classes more accessible and more culturally relatable for the most vulnerable communities, I think Woolridge has done a brilliant job in building this storyline and engaging the reader in this topic.

Anatomy Of A Meet Cute was in nice light read, not very heavy on the romance but a great story of self discovery and personal growth. If you are looking for a cute medical read then this book is for you.

The last thing I ever expected was to insult a colleague before I even started a new job.

But here I am, already on thin ice after I mistook a fellow doctor for a patient on a bad drug trip. Oops.

No matter how handsome or infuriatingly aloof he is, Grant Gao isn’t going to spoil my fresh start. Instead, I’m going to keep myself (maybe too) busy with my roommates, work, and passion: starting a new program to improve pregnancy care in the community.

But getting the hospital bigwigs on board with my idea is proving to be more difficult than I anticipated, and I may be forced to swallow my pride and ask Grant for help.

But will working with Grant bring us closer, or will I be crushed under my ever-growing list of responsibilities?

I love The Resident and Grey’s, so I’ll have to give this one a try, especially since lately I’ve preferred stories that have more happening in addition to a little romance.
