House of Shadows by K.A. Linde0: Kerrigan has defied all the odd as a half human/half Fae by not only joining the Dragon Society but by being the absolute best, but for her to fully become a member she needs to complete a year worth of training with her dragon in the place that no half Fae dares venture. If an already set of rigorous and difficult tasks were not hard enough Kerrigan has to face The House Of Shadows, a magical wall and The Red Masks all of who want to completely wipe-out all non full Fae’s. However never being one to back down or give up Kerrigan shows that with a bit of hard work and determination that nothing is impossible, and just maybe she is the one that can help save everyone.

This was my first time reading one of Linde’s fantasy novels and I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised by how much I actually enjoyed getting lost in this world of dragons, magic and mystery. Right of the bat I was a bit nervous going into this book seeing as it is a continuation from the previous book of which I did not read, but in true Linde fashion she never leaves you hanging or lost. I absolutely loved that she dropped bits of information to help build the back story without giving us a long winded information dump.

“You shouldn’t stay hidden. You can’t be contained, and no one should try to force you. Wild and untamed are the only ways in which you should exist,”

Kerrigan was such a boss lady! I loved getting to see her shine and showcase her amazing skills and talents. The thing that I loved the most about this heroine was that she wasn’t perfect by a long shot, as gifted as she was she to had many flaws, but it was these flaws that made her so relatable and so easy to root for. One of the things that I admired the most about her was that she always tried her hardest even when she failed. Most of all Kerrigan held a beacon of hope that the gap between each of the fractions; humans, royals, fae and half fae can all be bridged.

“She knew that she should stop him. A part of her told her that this couldn’t happen. And yet there was no stopping Fordham Ollivier. He was a hurricane wreaking havoc on her heart.”

Good gosh the relationship between Kerrigan and Fordham was sizzling! Talk about steamy forbidden romance, gosh does Linde know how to ramp up the heat here! Even though these two know that nothing can come of their relationship the connection that they create and show is unmatched. I loved that not only do they have good chemistry but they also help in pushing each other to be the best versions of themselves. As for Kerrigan’s other two male suitors, well lets just say that they did not hold a candle to the Prince of Shadows. I just want more of Ford gosh this guy was a mystery all his own wrapped in that devilishly charming exterior.

Linde has well and truly gone the extra mile with the attention to detail given through the novel, it was so easy to just picture each scene as we went along on this journey. But gosh did she leave us at the edge of our seats with this cliff-hanger! House Of Shadows is jam packed with adventure, battles, triumphs and turmoil, this was the kind of book that is best just read rather than explained. I would highly recommend diving this beautifully crafted mystery with all its elements of magic and mayhem.
