REVIEW: Only You by Denise Grover Swank

Only You by Denise Grover Swank: Out of the military, Kevin’s got a job with his friends company, and is settling down in a bit of a rundown house he means to flip. Except, his sister bought the house before he could look at it and it’s a bit more than rundown. But even so, at least it comes with the very cute and sexy neighbor Holly.

Holly’s on a bit of an unplanned celibacy streak, and when she makes a complete fool of herself, twice, in front of her new, extremely attractive, neighbor, it doesn’t look like it’ll be ending soon. But when it does, it leads to the hottest night in Holly’s life.

Only, turns out he’s the son of her boss, the woman who hates Holly and makes her out to be incompetent at every turn. Unwilling to put herself more under the fire with her boss, Kevin has to find a way to keep the romance alive, even if it means turning to friendship.

She narrowed her eyes, then said in a haughty tone, “I’m not ready to sleep with you yet.”
An amused grin spread across his face. “While I’m happy to hear that’s on the agenda for later, that’s not why I’m holding you now. You were about to step into the hole.” He tilted his head toward it.

A little boring at times, Only You is still overall a fun read. I love when the guy chases the girl like Kevin does for Holly. He’ll have her no matter what, and he’s in it for the long game. And even with the friendship, there’s still plenty of heat and romance. These two can’t help but generate it.

I wouldn’t say there was much to either character to make them interesting, but together they were cute. I got to say, though, I didn’t completely get the complication with the mother. Yes, she had issues with Holly due to jealousy in their wedding and event planning business, but she just wasn’t evil enough, I suppose. I liked all the characters in this story, except for Holly’s cousin, and it was a pleasant world to be in.

I would recommend Only You for those who want to read a wooing. Kevin’s out to woo her and earn Holly’s love, and I can’t help but adore him for it. I definitely think I’ll be reading the rest in this series at it goes on. I can’t tell it’ll be a fun series.

Never say never . . .

Romance isn’t an option for Holly Greenwood. With her wedding planner career on the line she needs to stay focused, and that means pleasing her demanding boss, not getting distracted by her mind-alteringly hot neighbor . . .

Ex-Marine Kevin Vandemeer craves normalcy. Instead, he has a broken-down old house in need of a match and some gasoline, a meddling family, and the uncanny ability to attract the world’s craziest women. At least that last one he can fix: he and his buddies have made a pact to swear off women, and this includes his sweetly sexy new neighbor.

After one hot night that looks a whole lot like a disaster in the light of day, Kevin and Holly are about to learn that true love doesn’t play by the rules . . .
