The Rearranged Life by Annika Sharma is a well written interracial romance about Nithya, a vivacious, The-Rearranged-Lifeintelligent and driven college senior has always known what she has wanted: a successful career in medicine and the love of her family and James St. Clair, the smart, challenging and heart breathtakingly handsome American. As Nithya and James fall in love, she questions the future she and her parents have always planned. Now, Nithya has a choice to make: become a doctor and a good Indian bride, or step away from her family and centuries of culture to forge her own path.

The decision she comes to takes her on a journey that transforms how she sees her future, her relationships with loved ones, and how she learns to put herself back together when even her best-laid plans fall apart.

I loved reading The Rearranged Life by Annika Sharma and though I am not a big fan of interracial romance books, this one pleasantly surprised me. Nithya is a strong heroine struggling to define her identity. She struggles to find a balance in the culture she was born and the culture she was raised in. She was a very relatable character and I loved how she grew throughout the story. The book is from her point of view and therefore for me the story was more about her journey.

James is a charming, handsome and he too struggles to come with terms with the culture Nithya was born in. He loves her but there is an obvious culture shock for him and its not very easy for him to understand why she just cannot choose to be with him so easily. I understood him but I just wished he had fought more for her. There is also Nishanth who like Nithya is an Indian born and raised in India. Odly enough I was rooting for him more than the hero because he made an effort with Nithya.

The story moves at a good pace and the romance is well constructed. I loved how the author handled the conflict and Nithya’s dilemma. The Indian elements incorporated in the story were varied and of-course accurate. Overall, The Rearranged Life by Annika Sharma ia an enjoyable romance.
