In This Is Love by Melissa Foster, actress Remi Divine is tired of feeling like she’s under a microscope, unable to live her own life. With a stalker and bodyguards who don’t speak to her, she’s had enough and puts her foot down with her brother, who hired the bodyguards. In return, he agrees to cut the number of bodyguards down to one, Mason Swift.

While Remi is attracted to Mason, she doesn’t want another bodyguard. Mason thinks she’s a bit of a diva, but soon learns that couldn’t be further from the truth; she’s just fed up with everything and acting out because no one seems to be listening to her. The more he gets to know her, the more he likes her, only he can’t seem to get to her believe the danger to her life is still real. Will he be able to convince her to take her safety seriously?

I liked Remi. She’s down to earth, sweet, and cares about her friends and everyone around her. I felt for her because it obviously was hard for her, not being able to do what she wanted and being surrounded by bodyguards who wouldn’t talk to her unless it was absolutely necessary. I could understand her frustration and it made her a relatable character. After all, everyone just wants to be able to live their lives the way they want to.

Mason is great. While everyone else is trying to do what they think is best for Remi, Mason actually listens to her and what she wants. He takes her frustrations to heart and does his best to make things easier for her, all while making sure she’s safe.

There’s a twist involving the stalker issue that I didn’t see coming, and I enjoyed that it wasn’t as straightforward as it originally comes across as. It adds a little bit of mystery and suspense to the story.

While this is the second book in the Harmony Pointe series, it can be read as a standalone. Some of the characters from the first book appear in this one, but the story mainly focuses on Remi and Mason so readers who haven’t read the first book won’t feel lost.

This Is Love is a sweet romance with very little drama. With likeable, relatable characters, readers both new and old to this author will enjoy this one.

Book Info:

Publication: December 3, 2019 | Montlake Romance | Harmony Pointe #2

Actress Remi Divine is sick of bodyguards, sick of stalkers, and sick of feeling like she is always under a microscope. But this movie star isn’t helpless by any means. She’s got a rebellious streak, and she knows how to use it. First order of business: getting rid of the overbearing bodyguards who are sticking to her like glue.

Mason Swift has made protecting others his life, and when Remi ditches his two best men, he takes over and gives it everything he has. Having grown up in the foster-care system, and as a former special operative, he knows all the tricks. Nothing gets by him, especially not gorgeous, sneaky Remi.

He thinks she’s a diva. She thinks he’s arrogant. But when sparks turn to flames and their walls come down, their true hearts are revealed, and their connection is unstoppable. And when tragedy strikes, Remi realizes that being protected isn’t the worst thing in the world—but losing Mason just might be.
